Senior QA Automation Engineer / Software Engineer in Test

About the Role
We are building an analytics platform on top of telematics data. The product is being developed from scratch, with testing and quality practices introduced from the very first sprints.
We are looking for a QA Engineer who will take ownership of product quality end-to-end — from data correctness to APIs and the user interface.
Responsibilities ✏️
• Test backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and the user interface;
• Verify data correctness throughout the entire pipeline — from raw telematics data to final analytics results;
• Develop and maintain API, integration, and component automated tests in Python using pytest;
• Investigate complex and intermittent defects and localize issues across services, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and caching layers;
• Develop and improve the test architecture and CI/CD processes;
• Perform load and performance testing;
• Build supporting tools when needed: data generators, parsers, scripts, emulators, and other test utilities;
• Work closely with developers to analyze requirements, scenarios, and edge cases;
• Help establish testing processes and tooling from scratch.
What We’re Looking For ✏️
• 4+ years of experience in software testing, including test automation;
• Strong Python skills: data structures and the object model, exceptions, context managers, type hints, pytest fixtures and parametrization, and working with asynchronous code;
• Solid experience testing REST APIs and a good understanding of HTTP;
• SQL skills sufficient for independent data analysis and validation;
• Basic Linux skills: command line, processes, logs, and environment configuration.
• Understanding of client-server architecture and communication between backend components;
• Ability to independently investigate problems: collect data, formulate and verify hypotheses, reproduce issues, and localize defects;
• Comfortable working with changing requirements and incomplete documentation.
Nice to Have 🔥
• Ability to read backend code and use it to investigate the root causes of defects;
• Experience with pytest, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools;
• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems;
• Experience with Kafka and ClickHouse;
• Experience building emulators, data generators, mock services, or other testing tools;
• Experience with load and performance testing;
• Experience with data processing and analytics systems;
• Experience in telematics, IoT, or GPS monitoring/tracking.
