Joining B Generous offers the rare opportunity to work at the intersection of fintech, finance, and social impact, while helping organizations access the capital they need to grow their missions.Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Credit Underwriter – Nonprofit Lending to evaluate nonprofit borrowers, assess repayment capacity, identify risk factors, and support financing recommendations across multiple lending partners.This role is ideal for someone with strong financial analysis skills who understands that nonprofit underwriting differs from traditional commercial lending and can evaluate both financial resilience and operational sustainability.The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, lenders, and borrowers to support transaction structuring and credit decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Analysis & UnderwritingAnalyze borrower financial information, including: audited financial statements, IRS Form 990 filings, internal management reports, and budgets and financial forecasts.Assess key credit indicators including: liquidity, unrestricted net assets, operating performance, debt service capacity, revenue concentration, donor dependency, grant timing exposure, and net income trends.Calculate and interpret: debt service coverage ratios, days cash on hand, working capital trends, leverage ratios, and operating reserves.Transaction SupportEvaluate financing requests for: working capital term loans, bridge loans, lines of credit, receivables-backed facilities, and revenue-based financing products.Structure term sheets including: loan amount, term, pricing, repayment structure, collateral requirements, and covenant considerations.Credit Memo PreparationPrepare concise underwriting summaries and credit memoranda for internal review, lender presentation, and credit discussions.Required QualificationsCandidates whose experience is limited primarily to residential mortgage underwriting, processing, or consumer lending operations are unlikely to be a fit for this role.Experience4+ years of relevant experience in: commercial lending, credit analysis, SBA underwriting, nonprofit lending, specialty finance, and CDFI underwriting.Technical SkillsStrong financial statement analysis skillsAbility to interpret nonprofit financials and Form 990 filingsStrong Excel or Google Sheets capabilityClear written and verbal communicationAbility to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneouslyComfortable working independently in a remote environmentAbility to use Docusign, Salesforce, and standard LOS systems (lending origination systems)Preferred QualificationsExperience working with nonprofits, social enterprises, or mission-driven borrowersFamiliarity with nonprofit accounting and revenue structuresExposure to lending platforms, fintech, or private credit environmentsPersonal AttributesClear and reasoned judgment when presenting a credit decision, which must be defensibleStrong attention to detailProactive and ambitiousAnalytical mindsetClear and decisive communicator—communicate often and openlyAble to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent transactions in a fast-paced environmentCompensation & BenefitsBase salary: $70,000 – $80,000 depending on experiencePerformance-based annual discretionary bonusEquity participation in a rapidly growing VC-backed fintech companyFully remote work environmentFlexible working hoursUnlimited PTO (subject to company policies)Health, dental, and vision insuranceCompany philanthropic match up to $1,000 annuallyGrowth opportunities within a rapidly expanding fintech companyEqual Opportunity StatementB Generous is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
