Requirements and responsibilities

The role:You'll work directly on the systems that keep our messaging infrastructure running — and have real ownership over making them better. You'll own the reliability and performance of our messaging infrastructure across every protocol we support. iMessage certs expiring on hardware, RCS implementation quirks, SMS rate limits, fallback logic when things break — this is your world. The job is to know these systems better than anyone and stay ahead of the problems before they become outages. What you'll actually do:Dig deep into messaging protocols (iMessage, RCS, SMS) and become the expert on how they behave at scaleBuild and run load tests, understand rate limits by protocol, and engineer around themDesign fallback systems so messages always get deliveredMonitor and get ahead of infrastructure issues — expired certs, degraded performance, protocol changesWork closely with the engineering team to improve deliverability across the platformApply if you:Get satisfaction from things working reliably, not just working onceHave experience with distributed systems, infrastructure, or DevOps at a real scaleAre the kind of person who reads the protocol docs for fun (or at least doesn't hate it)Prefer to fix the root cause, not the symptomCan hold the full context of a complex system in your head and reason about edge casesNice to haves:Experience with messaging protocols (SMS/MMS gateways, RCS, iMessage/APNs) or telecom infrastructureBackground in load testing, capacity planning, or site reliabilityFamiliarity with AWS, Docker, monitoring/alerting tools (Grafana, Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.)Experience at a startup or high-growth company Why Linq:Health/Dental/Vision insuranceFlexible PTO401(k)Wellness stipend, book stipend, professional development opportunitiesDirect access to engineering leadership - we're a small team solving real problems with no layers of bureaucracy between you and the workExperience Birmingham, AL — affordable living, incredible food, and rising tech scene (remote welcome too)
