Requirements and responsibilities


We are looking for a highly capable project accountant to provide our project team with accounting support. As a Project Accountant, you will be required to report to the accounting Supervisor and manage all project bills and invoices. Your duties will also include reviewing budgets and preparing financial reports. To be successful as a project accountant, you should possess extensive experience in accounting and the ability to provide project managers with accurate financial information. Top-Notch project accountants ensure consistent billing and prepare reliable financial reports. ✅ Responsibilities: • Manage all accounting-related functions for assigned projects. • Ensure alignment of project budget with organizational financials goals including staffing, work plans, and fee structures. • Providing project managers and clients with timely financial reports, budgets, and project forecasts. • Preparing pre-billing reports for project managers to review. • Preparing actual costs, working capital, and tax reports. • Monitoring receivable income and supporting project managers with collections. • Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department. • Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects. • Understand compliance requirements for assigned projects. • Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor or other project managers as required. • Issuing invoices and purchase orders, as well as paying consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills. • Ensuring a steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices in a timely manner. • Updating contracts according to client requirements and reporting associated budget amendments. • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. • Maintaining the relationship with vendors and suppliers. • Track project costs including labor, materials and overhead expenses • Implement cost control measures and identify areas for cost reduction/improvement. • Support internal and external audit as needed. ✅Required qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a similar field. • 2-5 years' experience as a project accountant or similar. • Proficiency in electronic accounting systems, such as Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho, Etc. • Ability to report to the Accounting Supervisor and other project managers. • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations. • Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports. • Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing. • In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting. • Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration and client services. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment ✅Preferred Qualifications: • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) would be advantageous. • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards. • Advanced financial modeling skills. ✅Note: Compensation is to be paid in CAD.
