Camunda is going through the AI-First transformation, and we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering Operations Team. As part of this high-impact platform team, you will play a key role in fostering engineering excellence by creating, implementing and maintaining scalable core processes to enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality within the Camunda 8 code bases, as well as the Engineering-wide organization processes.As Camunda 8 evolves into the leader of the agentic orchestration market, your mission is to ensure our internal development lifecycle is just as autonomous and gets us there in a frictionless manner. You will work with infrastructure and core software engineering teams to ensure smooth workflows, robust dependency management, and continuous improvement of CI processes in the era of AI-first development; enabling the Camunda 8 engineering teams to focus better on the core product development.What you'll be doing:AI-Augmented Engineering: Lead the shift toward an automated engineering lifecycle by implementing and orchestrating unified processes in the Camunda 8 repos - including AI-assisted processes like release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive CVE remediation.Continuously optimize CI/release health and development velocity using a metric-driven approach to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in our AI-first workflowsCollaborate with the key stakeholders to implement the CI strategy and engineering best practices, by creating a positive impact within the Engineering organization.Identify friction points in engineering workflows and evolve them into automated, self-sustaining systems that can handle the increased volume of an AI-augmented workforce - by effectively partnering with software engineers, engineering leaders and cross-team stakeholdersWhat you bring:Must Haves:Strong Software Engineering experience with a track record of delivering results (preferably, in Java)Specialization: Fullstack or BackendPassion for engineering operational excellence beyond writing code, including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release process enhancements, metrics collection, and build efficiency (DevOps mindset), and track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-endStrong experience in CI build tools (GitHub Actions, Java ecosystem - Maven, Docker) and automations (Shell/Python) in complex projects (e.g. monorepositories)Being a strong collaborator across teams and delivering impactful solutions in a platform-like environment.Experience in developer experience tools and process optimization & driving AI adoptionYou thrive in taking ownership of the codebase, as well as how you deploy and operate software.
