We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevOps Engineer III serves as an emerging individual contributor within a team, expanding your leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule, and delivery requirements. You will interact with stakeholders and utilize influential skills to drive improvements in DevOps processes and practices.Primary Expectations Of a DevOps Engineer III IncludeAcknowledge vulnerability notifications within 24 hours / next business day, triaging into the appropriate SLA response tier (High: 30 days, Medium: 180 days, Low: 360 days)Remediate identified system vulnerabilities on a weekly release cadence, including modification, testing, and installation of fixes across all instances; document via release notes, installation guides, and user guidesPerform security assessments and vulnerability scans using AWS Inspector, AWS Security Hub, Twistlock, or similar toolsMaintain trusted base images and automate dependency updates (e.g., Renovate Bot); execute container scans in CI/CD pipelinesAudit and inventory non-Terraformed legacy resources, systematically remediating configuration drift into managed codeConfigure and maintain network boundaries: VPC subnets, security groups, Network ACLs, firewalls, VPN configurations, and route pathsMaintain development environment readiness: Terraform updates, git repo builds, key/credential validation, and log analysis for AppDev teamsCoordinate cross-team remediation schedules and story prioritization with AppDev workstreams; participate in on-call rotations supporting Tier 2/3 incident responseBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degreeMust meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation as a condition of employmentHands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, and CloudWatchProficiency with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code provisioning and drift preventionDemonstrated experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and/or JenkinsStrong working knowledge of containerization using Docker and container orchestration on AWS ECS/EKS/FargateFamiliarity with DevSecOps practices including SAST, dependency scanning, and automated vulnerability remediationSolid understanding of networking, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure fundamentalsExperience with vulnerability management workflows and security scanning tools (AWS Inspector, Security Hub, or similar)Configuration-drift detection and remediation experiencePreferred QualificationsPrior work MA, or ATO processesExperience supporting SAFe or scaled Agile delivery teams as a platform or infrastructure providerFamiliarity with Kubernetes or comparable container orchestration platformsFamiliarity with government IT security scanning procedures and change management boardsKnowledge of automated security policy-as-code enginesHighly organized with strong prioritization and tracking habitsBenefitsCompany-subsidized health, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible PTO401K with employer matchPaid parental leave after one year of serviceEmployee Assistance ProgramHoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we've outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
