Responsibilities

Role Own the full post-production pipeline for our YouTube channel and social clips. You’ll turn raw talking-head and screen-recording footage into engaging long-form videos, then spin out high-retention short-form content for social. You’ll also handle uploads, metadata, chapters, scheduling, and light thumbnail collaboration. What you’ll do - Edit 1–2 long-form videos/week (8–20 min) with strong hooks, pacing, B-roll, motion titles, and sound design. - Create 5–15 short-form clips/week (9:16 & 1:1), adding burned-in captions and pattern interrupts. - Manage YouTube uploads: titles, descriptions, tags, chapters, end screens, cards, and scheduling. - Collaborate on thumbnail concepts and A/B tests (we’ll handle final design if needed). - Maintain an organized asset library (Drive), project files, and versioning. - Track basics: audience retention spikes/drops, CTR on titles/thumbnails, and iterate. You’re a fit if you - Have 2+ years editing for YouTube creators or brands (portfolio required). - Are fluent in Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve; plus After Effects/CapCut/Descript for captions when needed. - Know platform best practices (hooks in first 3–5s, jump cuts, cutaways, sound beds, pacing). - Can grade color, clean dialogue, and mix to broadcast-safe levels. - Craft subtitles (SRT) and on-brand motion graphics. - Communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and take feedback fast. Bonus: Familiarity with AI/tech/business topics, YouTube analytics, Notion/Airtable, and repurposing workflows. Quality bar / guidelines - Aspect ratios: 16:9 (YouTube), 9:16 (Shorts/Reels/TikTok), 1:1 (optional). - Captions: accurate, on-beat, readable; tasteful highlights/emphasis only. - Pacing: pattern interruptions every 3–7 seconds in shorts; purposeful, story-driven pacing in long-form. - Exports: H.264, 4K long-form when available, 1080p for vertical; clean loudness and no crushed blacks. Availability & collaboration - Must overlap at least 3–4 hours with ET (America/Toronto). - Remote, contractor/freelance. Compensation Competitive monthly retainer based on experience. (Please include your rate range.)
