Principal Embedded Engineer (IoT) Location: Boston MetroWest Area | Job Type: Full-time We are seeking a Principal Embedded Engineer to lead the architecture and development of critical embedded firmware for a regulated Type II IoT medical device. Role Summary * Engineer, architect, and design robust real-time firmware for a multiprocessor IoT system. * Work with a system that includes 2 STM MCUs and 1 ESP32 module managing motors, sensors, and Amazon Cloud/IoT communication. * Utilize C/C++ and FreeRTOS (or equivalent) for low-level embedded software. * Lead hardware bring-up, including low-level driver implementation (UART, I2C, SPI) and complex electro-mechanical integration. * Establish best practices, participate in firmware risk assessment, and optimize CI/CD pipelines. * Mentor team members and provide technical direction in firmware design. Required Qualifications * 10+ years in embedded firmware development and 5+ years working with STM32 and ESP32 microcontrollers. * Deep knowledge of C/C++, hardware bring-up, and real-time operating systems (RTOS). * Expert use of hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. * Expertise in peripheral interfaces, bootloaders, OTA updates, and security best practices.
