FT TECHNOLOGIES (FTT) Innovating the way we pay. Senior Director, Human Resources Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Location: Costa Rica (onsite) Function: People / Human Resources — new role, founding the HR function Employment type: Full-time About FT Technologies FT Technologies (FTT) builds cloud-based payment software for acquirers operating within the PCI ecosystem. We're a lean, fast-moving team of roughly 40 people supporting clients across the Americas, with a strong engineering and client-services culture built over nearly two decades in the payments industry. The Opportunity FTT has grown to about 40 people without a dedicated HR function — there is no formal performance review process, no structured hiring process, and no HR infrastructure. Leadership has already done the early groundwork: job levels are defined and an org structure is in place. What's missing is the person to turn that foundation into a real HR function. We're hiring a Senior Director of HR to build that function from the ground up. This is a hands-on, founding role for someone who has done this before — not someone who inherits a mature HR department, but someone who enjoys building one in a start-up-style environment with limited infrastructure and a lot of ambiguity. You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the full leadership team to shape how FTT hires, develops, evaluates, and retains people as it scales. What You'll Do Build the foundations • Design and stand up FTT's core HR infrastructure, policies, and processes essentially from a blank slate. • Select and implement an HRIS suited to a ~40-person, multi-country organization. • Establish the HR budget and manage relevant vendor relationships (benefits, payroll support, HR tools). Performance and talent management • Design and launch FTT's first formal performance review cycle. • Build out a career-leveling and growth framework on top of the job levels and org structure already established. • Develop a compensation philosophy and salary banding aligned to those levels. Recruiting and hiring • Design and implement a structured hiring process — requisitions, interview loops, scorecards, and offer workflow — where none exists today. • Own full-cycle recruiting for open roles, partnering closely with hiring managers. • Shape FTT's candidate experience and early employer-branding efforts. Employee experience and compliance • Build onboarding and offboarding programs. • Draft FTT's first employee handbook and core HR policies. • Ensure labor law compliance across the jurisdictions where FTT has employees (including Costa Rica and Guatemala), partnering with Legal and Finance on contracts, benefits, and compensation administration. • Bring HR practices in line with the security- and compliance-minded culture required of a company operating in the PCI payments space. Leadership • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team on org design and talent strategy. • Build and lead an HR team as the function and the company grow. What Success Looks Like in Year One • Core HR infrastructure and an HRIS are in place and adopted. • FTT has completed its first formal, company-wide performance review cycle. • A structured, repeatable hiring process is in active use across teams. • An employee handbook and core policies are published and understood. • A compensation framework is mapped to FTT's existing job levels. What We're Looking For • 8–12+ years of progressive HR experience, including direct experience building an HR function from scratch (not just running an existing one). • Prior experience in a start-up or high-growth, resource-constrained environment — comfortable operating without existing infrastructure. • Hands-on experience designing performance management systems, compensation frameworks, and structured hiring processes. • Working knowledge of labor law in Costa Rica and/or Guatemala; broader Latin America experience strongly preferred. • Fluent in both English and Spanish. • A builder's mindset — hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable with ambiguity, rather than an oversight-only leadership style. • Strong communication and change-management skills; able to bring people along as new processes are introduced for the first time. • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; SHRM-SCP, PHR, or equivalent certification a plus. Nice to Have • Experience in fintech, payments, or another regulated technology industry. • Experience supporting a distributed team across multiple Latin American countries. FT Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. Compensation will be shared with candidates during the hiring process and set in line with the role's scope and FTT's job leveling framework.
