About the CompanyMy client is a data company located in Palo Alto with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and NYC. They are a leader in behavioral data products. They have hired me to find them a Manager, Data Privacy. This position is a remote role.This data company is a leader in behavioral data products. From a continuously refreshed, broadly representative, and privacy-compliant aggregation of global digital behavioral data, they derive insights into the interests of consumers and business people. These insights are delivered as data products used by enterprise technology platforms to drive better business decisions and outcomes.Purpose of the roleTo own the process of privacy management of the data company.ResponsibilitiesManage the agenda, and document the decisions of the Privacy Policy Team, composed of a small group of the company's executives, managers, and external consultants. Work with the team to establish clear resolution of issues as they arise, and document these outcomes.Establish and maintain content and materials as guides for employees, clients and suppliers, both for direct access and as inputs to Marketing for external communications. Structure content for and, in some cases, lead internal training sessions to educate employees on privacy practices and obligations.Act as the authority and primary owner of Privacy for teams seeking clarification on the company's policies or practices. Bring to the attention of the Privacy Policy Team any new issues raised by employees or external parties for which no clear answer or policy has been developed and agreed.Design and manage processes through which changes in regulation that require new practices are adopted by affected departments. Ensure that decisions by the Privacy Policy Team are translated into business practices.Operate a process for ensuring compliance with the company's policies and regulations by its vendors and clients. Make sure the clients provide adequate disclosure/documentation of their use of the company's data and that the vendors provide the sources and methods used to prepare data supplied to the company.Provide the company's response to external inquiries regarding the company's privacy policies. Educate client-facing and client-facing employees where to find answers to common questions, as well as explanations of company policies, to help them accurately represent the company's privacy policies.Represent the company externally including industry organizations and suppliers or partners involved in validating the company's practices.Serve as a positive voice and advocate for ethical, transparent use of data across our company.Requirements and QualificationsThe ideal candidate would have experience managing a privacy program for a company offering data products.Experience in advertising and marketing data and/or technology businesses.
