This person will be a key partner to Finance, Sales, Legal, Tax, Payroll, and Operations, and will provide support across several important areas, including technical accounting research and guidance, drafting accounting policies and memos, supporting sales tax and income tax work, assisting with audit, tax, and process improvement initiatives from a project management perspective, partnering with the team to identify pain points and address them through AI, workflow improvements, and better processes, and cross training to provide support and process redundancy across accounting operations as they absorb the business and improve productivity.In this role, you will be responsible forLeading technical accounting research and preparing clear, well supported accounting memos on complex or non standard matters under U.S. GAAP, with particular strength in ASC 606, ASC 340-40, ASC 340-50, and related guidanceLeading contract reviews to assess revenue recognition conclusions, identify accounting implications early, and ensure appropriate treatment is documented before executionEvaluating customer arrangements for ASC 606 implications, including identification of performance obligations, allocation considerations, timing of revenue recognition, contract modifications, and other judgmental areasSupporting accounting analysis for related topics such as contract cost capitalization, commission expensing, and other deal related accounting conclusionsDrafting, maintaining, and updating accounting policies and position papers to support a scalable and well controlled accounting environmentServing as a primary technical resource for the finance team on revenue recognition, policy application, and other complex accounting mattersSupporting the external audit process by preparing technical memos, audit schedules, and other documentation needed to support the company's accounting positionsSupporting tax related workstreams, including coordination and documentation for sales tax and income tax mattersPartnering cross functionally with Legal, Sales, RevOps, and other stakeholders to review deal terms and flag accounting issues before they become downstream execution challengesIdentifying gaps, pain points, and control weaknesses in current accounting workflows, and helping address them through better processes, automation, AI enabled tools, and improved documentationCreating redundancy across the team by cross training on key accounting processes and serving as backup support where neededActing as a reliable, hands on team member who can step into high priority areas during audit cycles, close periods, or bandwidth constraintsWhat we are looking for6 to 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, required to include both public accounting and industry experienceBackground in a major public accounting firm is requiredStrong technical accounting background with demonstrated experience applying ASC 606 and other U.S. GAAP guidance in practiceProven experience researching accounting issues and drafting high quality technical accounting memos and policy documentationExperience reviewing contracts and translating commercial terms into appropriate accounting conclusionsWorking knowledge of contract cost capitalization, commission expensing, and related accounting considerationsAbility to operate effectively in a fast paced, high growth environment with shifting priorities and evolving processesStrong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a high bar for documentation quality and audit readinessClear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical conclusions to both finance and non finance stakeholdersCollaborative, low ego, and hands on approach, with the willingness to work across both technical and operational accounting mattersCPA requiredNetSuite experience strongly preferredExperience in SaaS, technology, and or pre IPO environments is a plusWhy this role mattersThis role is intended to strengthen the finance organization in three important ways:Add technical accounting depth in areas that require stronger research, documentation, and judgmentImprove consistency and control around contract review, ASC 606 conclusions, and related accounting positionsCreate additional bandwidth and redundancy across the team so key processes are less dependent on any one individualRescale is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
