Requirements and responsibilities

About Sprinter HealthAt Sprinter Health, our mission is reimagining how people access care by bringing it directly to their homes. Nearly 30% of patients in the U.S. skip preventive or chronic care simply because they can’t get to a doctor’s office. For many, the ER becomes their first touchpoint with the healthcare system—driving over $300B in avoidable costs every year.By using the same technologies that power leading marketplace and last-mile platforms, we deliver care where people are, especially those who need it most. So far, we’ve supported more than 2 million patients across 22 states, completed 130,000+ in-home visits, and maintained a 92 NPS. Our team of clinicians, technologists, and operators have raised over $125M to date from investors like a16z, General Catalyst, GV, and Accel and enjoy multi-year runway.About the RoleWe’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Logistics Optimization team, where we tackle some of the hardest algorithmic and operational problems in healthcare. You’ll design systems that balance clinician supply, patient demand, and routing efficiency—essentially the logistics backbone of Sprinter’s in-home care delivery model. This is a deeply technical, high-impact role where you’ll work on problems at the intersection of operations research, simulation, and scalable distributed systems.Office LocationWe are a hybrid company based in the Bay Area with offices in both San Francisco and Menlo Park. We care about work-life balance and understand that there will be times where flexibility is needed. What will you do:Design and implement algorithms that optimize clinician routing, scheduling, and dispatch at national scaleBuild simulations that model demand, capacity, and patient behavior under real-world constraintsDevelop predictive models for cancellations, no-shows, and overbooking optimizationCollaborate with product and ops teams to translate complex logistics challenges into scalable software systemsPrototype and productionize forecasting and optimization models in a distributed environmentOwn projects end-to-end—from design to implementation and iterationWhat you have done:5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend or full-stack fundamentalsProficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript (preferred) and/or PythonExperience designing or implementing optimization, forecasting, or simulation systemsBackground in operations research, applied math, or quantitative modelingShipped production systems that balance technical complexity and real-world constraintsCollaborated cross-functionally with product, ops, or data science teams to drive measurable impactWhat gives you an edge:Experience with global optimization techniques or Monte Carlo simulationsBackground in logistics, scheduling, or large-scale routing systemsPrior work in healthcare or other operationally complex, data-heavy environmentsExperience in 0→1 environments or scaling early-stage technical systemsYou’re motivated by solving real problems that improve access to careOur tech stack:TypeScript / Node.jsPythonGraphQLAWS Amplify Stack (AppSync, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudFormation)BigQuery, Elasticsearch / OpenSearchLooker, KibanaForecasting, simulation, and optimization frameworksCustom route annealing and distributed scheduling modelsWhat we offer:Meaningful pre-IPO equityCompetitive salary aligned with senior engineering levelsMedical, dental, and vision fully covered for you and your dependentsFlexible PTO + 10 paid holidays401(k) with company match16-week parental leave (8 weeks for partners)HSA / FSA contributionsLife, short-term, and long-term disability coverageFree daily lunch in-officeAnnual learning stipendThe interview processWe aim to complete the process within 2–3 weeks.
