Company:SimpleStudy is a consumer AI platform for students.We help them stay motivated to study their subjects - everything from Biology and Mathematics to Literature and Art.Our small team has already helped +1.5 M students worldwide (UK, Ireland, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia) study better, and ~40–50k new students join us every week.We are a remote team with a Lisbon office, having recently raised ~$4M seed round with incredible investors from Strava, OpenAI, and Meta.Responsibilities and key results:Own the React Native app end-to-end — architecture, performance, release process, and roadmap — without needing the problem framed in advanceLead and mentor the two existing engineers already supporting mobile, setting technical direction and raising the bar for mobile craftPartner directly with Affan on engineering strategy and with Oisin on product direction where mobile intersects with growth, onboarding, and retentionDrive native-feel polish: smooth animations, responsive interactions, platform-specific conventions (iOS/Android)Work in a PLG/A/B testing environment — ship features, instrument, measure impact, iterate fastOwn app store presence and release cadence — versioning, store optimization, crash/performance monitoringPotentially help grow a dedicated mobile team as the app becomes a bigger part of the businessRequirements:At least 5 years of experience with mobile development (React Native)Proficiency in TypescriptProven experience building and shipping consumer-grade mobile applications.Familiarity with common mobile tools and libraries (e.g., Expo, Firebase, push notifications, app store deployment).Experience with Tailwind, TanStack Query, React Native Reanimated and Jotai (or Zustand/Redux)Experience with leading and managing test teamsBonus: iOS development (Swift)Bonus: Android development (Kotlin)Conditions:Remote in Europe (preference: Western/continental Europe)Portugal relocation sponsorship possibleSalary: no fixed budget.
