Requirements and responsibilities

About the RoleWe are looking for a Sr. Developer / Architect who can hold the whole system in their head, defend it in a room with product, clinical, and business stakeholders, and write the code that proves the architecture works. This is a hands-on architecture position, a builder seat with an architect’s responsibility for the whole. You set the technical direction, shape how the architecture maps to the product roadmap, make calls on the stack and patterns, and ship production code every week. Producing code is a core expectation of this role, not a side activity.Product ArchitectureThis is the centerpiece of the role. You own the domain model, the boundaries between modules, the extension points, and the durable architectural decisions that shape what the product can and cannot do in the next two years. You partner with product and clinical leadership to ensure the architecture supports the roadmap rather than fighting it.When product asks whether we can add something, you are the one who can answer truthfully in the same conversation rather than after a week of investigation.Required Skills5+ years of professional software development experience. Can ship features end to end across the platform without waiting for someone else to fill in the gaps. Will pick up work that touches the frontend, the backend, the database layer, and sometimes the infrastructure that sits underneath all of it.Will write code that goes into production, and you will be expected to do that at a pace that only works when AI tooling is part of how you think rather than a thing you reach for occasionally. The platform is a HIPAA compliant, cloud native EHR built FHIR native from the start. The stack is TypeScript end to end and runs on AWS.Designed for AI assisted development from the inside out.Hono on AWS Lambda for the serverless backend.React 19 with Vite for the SPA.Drizzle for the ORM.tRPC paired with REST and FHIR for the API layer.Every choice in the stack is meant to get the most out of AI code generation, and the team ships at a pace that is only possible when the first draft of code coming out of Claude or Cursor actually compiles and runs.Work closely with the Lead Product Architect and the rest of the engineering team. The architecture is set.Extend it cleanly, write code that fits the patterns already in the codebase, and push back when something does not feel right rather than silently working around it.
