We're building a new healthcare clearinghouseStedi is building the first new healthcare clearinghouse in decades. In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. Clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers. Until Stedi, the space was occupied entirely by a small group of legacy players, built on outdated, often pre-internet technology.Stedi is the world's only programmable healthcare clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions. By offering a modern API interface for running eligibility checks, processing claims, and ingesting ERAs, healthcare technology businesses can exchange transactions with payers without dealing with the EDI protocol or carrier-specific connectivity.As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join our engineering team to build our healthcare APIs and extend existing systems.How we buildWe use AWS exclusively for our customer-facing backend infrastructure. We use tools like GitHub, Stripe, and PagerDuty, but all of our application work happens on AWS. We use serverless technologies almost exclusively: Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Aurora Serverless, and more. We don’t run a single server.We use CDK (TypeScript) to define infrastructure as code.We write the majority of our API backends and EDI parsing engine in Rust.What you'll doDesign and develop complex, large-scale web applications and APIsWork closely with AWS to improve our understanding and use of their servicesContribute to a culture of engineering excellence and rigor through both coding and writing high-quality, effective communicationBuild the highest quality, broadest-reaching commercial trading network at the lowest possible price for our customersWho you are 4+ years of coding experience, previous work in Rust and TypeScript is beneficial 4+ years working with AWS servicesCommitted to working with AWS serverless offerings in a production environmentAbility to prioritize your work based on the needs of the business and the customersHigh bandwidth; thoughtful attention to many areas simultaneouslyAbility to context switch throughout the course of the day or week as priorities shiftPhilosophical alignment with the Stedi StandardsWe’ve been made aware of individuals impersonating the Stedi recruiting team.
