• Technician shall be responsible for the installation of ducts and conduit, pulling, and the final termination in the Main Distribution Frame/Intermediate Distribution Frame (MDF/IDF), testing, splicing, and repairing copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cable.
• Technician shall be responsible for documentation and labeling of installed infrastructure.
• Technician shall be responsible for the installation of exterior copper, i.e., 25 Pair, 50 Pair Copper for the installation of phone lines, coaxial cabling, fiber cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, and supporting ground and power connections.
• Technician shall be responsible for the installation of cabinets, cable ladder rack systems, and equipment components in the cabinets as required.
• Technician shall support the maintenance of wiring, including copper (network and telephonic), fiber optic, and coaxial cabling inside of buildings up to the MDF/IDF, and outside cabling plant between the buildings.
• Technician shall be responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of network equipment and/or telecommunications equipment.
• Technician will be able to independently answer internal inquiries and troubleshoot hardware failures either in person or on the phone.
• Technician will be able to ensure that systems and related equipment are in working condition.
• Technician will be able to maintain records on inventory, repairs, downtime, changes, and updates.
• In addition to the experience requirements and demonstrated performance of the position, employee should be able to assist and train others in the required tools and processes as they relate to the physical layer of the OSI Model and the functional area.
• Technician will willingly accept mentoring and training in order to further develop his own individual and professional skill set.
• Technician will perform preventive maintenance as directed and will maintain accountability of all equipment issues in order to prevent wastage or theft.
• Perform site surveys and be willing to work at any location throughout Afghanistan for the installation of outside plant infrastructure.
• Provide the information from the site survey based on the checklist as a minimum, and provision of pictures, Bill of Material, and site survey report to the Program Manager.

• Technician must demonstrate ability to install and operate related computer systems.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other contractor employees and the customer.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to repeatedly lift up to 70 pounds, including overhead.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to repeatedly climb ladders or step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.
• Technician must demonstrate ability to work in an “on-call” status.
• Technician must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both the general and specific aspects, and the technical phases of the job, and its practical application to complex problems and situations that ordinarily will be encountered.
• Technician must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, RG-6, and DB-25. Knowledge of V.35, RS-449 is a plus, but not required.
• Technician must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of fiber, network topology, network protocols, and network design.
• Technician must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of power testing and network tools such as a multi-meter and toner, etc.
