Responsibilities

Job title: Marketing Manager. Type: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week, starting as soon as you can and running through March 31 2027, with a path to full-time. Location: Remote, worldwide, with some overlap with US Eastern hours. Language: English at a conversational level is sufficient. Compensation: Unpaid for the first 3-6 months while we bring the product to market, transitioning to a paid contract once the company is generating revenue, with a path to a full-time salaried role as revenue supports it. We are stating that plainly rather than burying it. If you need income from day one, this is not the right time to join us. About the company: Melora Connect is membership management software for organizations of every size, from small local groups to large national and international bodies: associations, chambers of commerce, societies, federations, councils, nonprofits and professional membership organizations. The product is built and going to market now. There are tens of thousands of membership-based organizations in the US alone and many more worldwide, and a large share of them complain openly about the software they are on. The market is winnable and nobody is working it hard. Why this role exists: We have specialists. Content and SEO, technical SEO, marketing operations and HubSpot, a front-end developer on the website. What we do not have is someone who decides what they should all be working on. Right now marketing is a set of parallel efforts pointed in roughly the same direction, and that stops being good enough the moment we have customers to win and lose. This is the seat that owns the whole function. What you will do: - Own the marketing function end to end: strategy, plan, calendar, budget and results. - Set the positioning and the message. Membership organizations do not buy software, they buy relief from a renewal season that breaks every year. Our job is to say that better than five competitors who have been saying it longer. - Direct the associate team: content and SEO, technical SEO, marketing operations, design and the website. You set the priorities and hold the quality bar. - Build demand generation that feeds sales: landing pages, lead magnets, webinars, email nurtures, industry events and partnerships. - Own the funnel numbers with sales. Traffic, leads, qualified opportunities, pipeline contribution. Report honestly, including when a channel is not working. - Run launch: the go-to-market for a product that is arriving in the market now, not a rebrand of something that has been around for years. - Build competitive positioning against WildApricot, MemberClicks, GrowthZone, Glue Up and StarChapter, and arm the sales team with it. - Establish the brand across the website, collateral, social and the vendor marketplace. Honest framing on stage: we are early and pre-revenue. You will not inherit a team of ten, a budget or a year of data. You will inherit a real product, a large prospect database, an existing network inside the industry, a small group of associates who need direction, and a founder who spent years selling in this exact category and will tell you what he knows. Who we are looking for: You have run marketing, not just executed it. Three or more years in B2B or SaaS marketing, at least some of it directing other people's work. You are equally comfortable writing the positioning yourself and reviewing someone else's draft. You are analytical enough to kill your own idea when the numbers say so. You have worked without a budget before and found another way. Association, nonprofit or membership experience is a nice bonus and not a requirement. Applicants worldwide welcome. What you get: the whole function, not a slice of it. Direct work with the founder. A team to build and lead. First claim on the head of marketing seat as this scales. Structured training through our Melora Institute curriculum, and a substantive written reference.
