Responsibilities

About AmperosAmperos is healthcare's first AI-native denial management and revenue recovery platform. Our agentic AI works claims end-to-end, from portal follow-ups and payor calls to appeals and medical records, so providers can resolve more denials, recover more revenue, and focus on what matters most: serving patients. We just closed a $16M Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with continued participation from Uncork Capital and Neo. We're still small, still early, and going after a $260B+ problem that's only getting worse. If you want to work on hard problems that matter, alongside people who care deeply about the mission (and each other), we'd love to meet you.About the roleThe Billing Manager will own a book of client accounts and the team that runs them. This isn't a role where you inherit a fixed team and keep it running. You'll need to be equal parts people manager, operator, and trusted advisor, working in concert with your peers to build best practices, document processes, and drive efficiencies. You need the judgment to staff and restaff a team as your book changes; the discipline to run fair, consistent 1-on-1s, and performance conversations; the coaching instinct to grow the leaders who report to you, not just the billers on the floor; and enough command of your clients' data to speak to it with real authority. What You'll DoOwn your client portfolioManage a book of client accounts, sized by complexity rather than a fixed countStaff and restaff each account with the right mix of billers and specialists as the book changesServe as the escalation point above your Team Leads for claim, staffing, and client issuesDeliver on production and quality expectationsSet and track production and quality targets across your portfolioRun regular production and quality reviews with your Team LeadsDecide whether a slipping metric is a coaching issue, a staffing issue, or a product issue, and route it accordinglyAct as a trusted RCM advisorSpeak to your clients' workflows, A/R, denial trends, and performance with real authorityBe the person a client turns to for an answer, not just an updateManage and coach your peopleRun formal 1-on-1s and performance conversations with billers, up to and including terminationsCoach and develop the Team Leads who report to you into stronger leaders, not just the billers on the floorIdentify and develop future Team Lead and senior biller talentCollaborate across RCM OpsWork in concert with peer Billing Managers to build best practices and document processesDrive efficiencies across the broader team, not just your own bookWhat We're Looking For8+ years of leadership experience, including meaningful time directly managing billing or RCM teams in healthcare RCMDeep RCM domain knowledge: fluent on denial management, A/R aging, payer behavior, and reimbursement trendsExperience staffing and scaling a team to match a changing book of businessExperience managing offshore teams, including performance management across geographiesComfortable owning multiple client relationships and multiple direct/indirect reports at onceExperience with leading PM systems (ModMed, NextGen, Athenahealth, or similar) and payer portalsDirect, clear communicator, comfortable delivering hard feedback and handling escalationsAbility to work US hours (9am-6pm ET)Our ValuesLead with Empathy - Great products and teams are built on empathy—whether for our customers, users, or team members.
