The Director of Investor Relations will own the day-to-day operating cadence of the IR function while transforming business results into clear, compelling, and high-impact investor communications.Success in this role requires a passion for investor engagement and the ability to translate complex financial, operational, and product dynamics into a cohesive narrative that resonates across both institutional and retail audiences. This role will partner closely with the Head of IR, PR, and executive leadership to strengthen Root’s positioning as a technology-driven insurance platform and improve how the market understands and evaluates the business.Salary Range: $189,400 - $236,700 (Eligible for competitive bonus and equity offering.)Root is a “work where it works best” company. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.How You Will Make an ImpactOwn the end-to-end IR operating cadence, including earnings preparation, shareholder letter drafting, scripts, Q&A, and cross-functional coordinationTranslate Root’s strategy, financial performance, and product evolution into clear, compelling, and consistent external messagingDevelop and refine Root’s investor narrative, positioning the company as a technology-driven platform while connecting near-term performance to long-term value creationLead the creation of high-quality investor-facing materials that drive engagement across institutional and retail audiencesPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Data Science, Engineering, Business Development, and Marketing to synthesize insights into investor-ready narrativesSupport investor and analyst engagement, including preparation, follow-ups, conferences, and ongoing dialoguePrepare the Head of IR and executive team for high-impact interactions, ensuring clarity, consistency, and depth of messagingAnticipate investor questions and pressure-test messaging to ensure credibility in complex discussionsPartner closely with Communications and PR to develop a unified external narrative across investors, media, and retail audiences while increasing Root’s visibility and engagement in the marketMonitor investor sentiment, peer positioning, and market dynamics to continuously improve how Root is understood and valuedMentor and develop junior IR talent by creating structure, providing feedback, and helping build deeper business and market fluency across the teamWhat You Will Need to Succeed8+ years of experience in investor relations, strategic communications, financial communications, public markets advisory, or related roles supporting public company narratives and investor engagementBachelor's degree required. MBA preferred.Experience supporting public company positioning, investor engagement, or strategic external communications initiativesExperience advising senior executives on external messaging, positioning, or investor communications in dynamic public market environments is highly valuedProven ability to translate complex business performance into clear, compelling market narrativesExperience engaging with institutional and retail audiences, with an understanding of how messaging differs across stakeholdersAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting prioritiesStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneouslyAs part of Root's interview process, we kindly ask that all candidates be on camera for virtual interviews.
