We are looking for a part-time software engineer to help implement a proof of concept for an experimental decentralized, censorship-resistant networking protocol.The network architecture and protocol design are already substantially defined. Your job will be to translate that design into a working Python implementation, make implementation-level engineering decisions, and help identify problems that emerge during testing. The objective is a functional proof of concept, not a production-ready implementation.The work primarily involves Python, peer-to-peer networking, asynchronous/concurrent programming, and applied cryptography.Strong Python programming skills.Good understanding of networking and network protocols.Familiarity with asynchronous or concurrent programming.Working knowledge of applied cryptography and standard cryptographic primitives.Ability to independently reason through, implement, and debug systems.Use of generative AI or AI coding assistants for project work is not permitted.Experience implementing network protocols, peer-to-peer systems, or distributed systems is a plus but not required.This is not a cryptocurrency, NFT, or Web3 project.Approximately 20 hours per week at $20 USD/hour. The initial proof-of-concept effort is expected to last approximately four months.
