Requirements and responsibilities

Role Overview: - As a Korean Consecutive Medical Interpreter, your primary responsibility is to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and patients who speak Korean. Interpretation: - Accurately interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments, and other healthcare-related information between Korean-speaking patients and healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. Cultural Mediation: - Provide cultural mediation services to help patients understand the healthcare system and navigate it effectively. - Help healthcare providers understand cultural differences that may impact patient care. Confidentiality: - Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards for medical interpreters. Documentation: - Document interpretation services provided, including the date, time, duration, and type of interpretation. Professional Development: - Stay up to date with the latest medical terminology and healthcare practices to ensure accurate and effective interpretation. Qualifications: - Fluency in Korean and English. - Experience in medical interpretation or translation. - Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with the healthcare system. - Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Technical Requirements: - Minimum 15 Mbps download and upload internet speed. - USB headset (mandatory). - PC or laptop (5th Generation processor or higher with a minimum of 8 GB RAM). - LAN (Ethernet) internet connection. - HD webcam. Working Hours and Compensation: - Hourly-based program in the EST (Eastern Standard Time) time zone. - Pay Rate: $12 USD per hour. Terms and Conditions: - This is an Independent Contractor position. - The role requires providing interpretation services over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI) from a professional workspace with high-speed internet, a quality PC/laptop, and a USB headset. - Compensation is $12 USD per hour. - You will receive an hourly shift schedule based on the EST time zone. - Payments are made monthly via Payoneer. - After accepting the offer, you will be enrolled in the company's training program. - Training begins at the end of July, 2026. - All new hires must complete a mandatory 80-hour training program over 10 business days. - Training is paid at 50% of the agreed hourly rate. - Payment will be made provided the interpreter passes the assessment and begins working with the company. - Attendance and Quality Assurance (QA) bonuses are available as part of the incentive program. - Training schedules will be shared a few days before the start date. - Candidates will complete a final assessment through Language Stat. - Successful candidates will receive portal credentials from the client. - The IT team will provide training and guidance on using the interpretation platform. - No leave is permitted during the first month of employment except in emergencies with prior supervisor approval.
