This position will play a hands-on leadership role across several areas, including the integrity of financial reporting, building scalable controls and processes, defining and optimizing month end close, effectively managing gross to net revenue accounting and working capital (AP/AR), and successfully implementing an ERP transition from Quickbooks to NetSuite.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & CloseOwn and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare GAAP-compliant financial statementsEnsure accuracy of revenue recognition, accruals, and reservesEstablish and maintain strong internal controls in a scaling environmentERP Transition LeadershipPartner with internal stakeholders and external consultants to:Design chart of accounts and dimensional structureConfigure inventory, costing, and order-to-cash workflowsMigrate historical data and validate system outputsDrive process standardization and documentationTrain internal teams and ensure adoption across functionsGross to Net Sales and Trade SpendOwn the end-to-end gross to net revenue accounting process, ensuring accurate recognition of net sales after trade, rebates, discounts, returns and allowances.Establish and maintain a strong trade spend accrual methodologyOversee the customer deduction management & validation processWork closely with Sales to ensure trade terms are consistently applied and enforcedSupport implementation of potential trade promotion management systemsInventory & Cost AccountingOwn inventory accounting across co-manufacturers, 3PLs, and warehousesDevelop and maintain standard costing and BOMs to enable accurate COGS and Gross Margin by SKUImplement cycle counts and support physical inventory auditsCash Flow & Working Capital ManagementManage AP/AR processes, payment cycles, and collectionsSupport banking relationships, debt compliance, and reportingTeam Leadership & External CoordinationBuild and manage a lean but high-performing accounting team (AP/AR, staff accountant)Partner with CFO to oversee external partners:AuditTaxERP consultantsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)8–12+ years of progressive accounting experienceCPG, food/beverage, or manufacturing industry experience requiredNetSuite and ERP implementation experience strongly preferredStrong excel skillsExperience operating in a growth stage companySuccess in This Role Looks LikeClean, timely close with improved reporting accuracy and visibilityGAAP-compliant financial statementsSuccessful NetSuite implementation with strong adoption across teamsClear, reliable visibility into inventory, Trade (Net Sales), COGS, and gross marginsStrong internal controls and scalable processesCore CompetenciesHigh attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesAnalytical mindset with problem-solving orientationClear written and verbal communication skillsComfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
