Automation Controls Engineer are able to communicate effectively with all project stakeholders including customers, leadership, our sales teams, program management, research and development engineers, and delivery team engineers that bring customer solutions to life. We have a passion for bringing together cross functional teams to creatively solve problems. We value working closely with different groups throughout project lifecycles and believe that creating and validating user requirements at the system and sub system level is essential for success.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:Helping to architect the process and controls that will control our machinesReading and contributing to electrical schematics that define and document our systemsParticipating in mechanical and electrical design reviews to provide feedback on the systems you will be controllingProgramming the paths for the robots and motion systems that make up our automationAnalyzing customer needs, turning those into system requirements, and incorporating them into the software of the systemProgramming Beckhoff PLCs using the TwinCat3 IDEDeveloping real-time code using IEC 61131-3 Structured TextDeveloping non real-time code using Python and object oriented design patternsTravel 25% to 30%WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent5+ years of experienceBeckhoff PLC programmingRobot programmingIndustrial AutomationStepper and servo motor motion control and tuningExperience with vision systems (i.e. Keyence or Cognex)Experience with SCADA systemsExperience with databases (SQL and NoSQL, e.g, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HADSome exposure with web technologies (ie JavaScript, React, REST, GraphQL).Experience using industrial robots such as FanucStructured Text (61131-3)Python programmingObject oriented programming conceptsGit software version controlSQL RDBFamiliarity with Linux and command line tools (Windows, AWS)Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plusStrong knowledge of FAST API, microservices, and message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ)BE EMPOWERED TO CHANGE AN INDUSTRY Bright Machines is a next-generation, AI-enabled manufacturer focused on data center infrastructure assembly operations.
