🔵 Duties of the Registered Nurse (RN) - Orthopedics: ◽ Perform a full range of RN duties, including triage, patient assessment and monitoring, providing appropriate nursing care, procedures, and treatments. ◽ Execute physicians’ orders and document patient care and observations. ◽ Provide patient education and emotional support. ◽ Receive and evaluate telephone consults to determine the need for immediate or sub-acute evaluation. ◽ Provide pre-operative instruction to patients. ◽ Assist in procedures not involving conscious sedation, such as IV access, blood draws, and patient management/antibiotic administration. ◽ Provide post-operative evaluations/care, including wound care. ◽ Coordinate continuity of care with social services when needed. ◽ Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. ◽ Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations. ◽ Operate and manipulate automated systems like CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, and Clinical Information System (CIS).
