The Role
You are a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer who owns the full lifecycle of modern cloud platforms and enjoys seeing your work make a real impact. In this role, you will lead the design, build, and maintenance of a robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure that powers our products. You will collaborate closely with a small, friendly engineering team that values autonomy, clean engineering practices, and continuous improvement.
This isn’t “just another website” role. You’ll be building a greenfield solution where the real value is the integration layer: designing and implementing the backend and infrastructure that move data, trigger pipelines, and power the metrics our client will see on the front end. The website is just the window; what you build behind it is the engine that makes everything work.
If you are excited about joining the SweatWorks team to help build a new client project from the ground up, and you are available to come on board from January 2026, we would love to start the new year building great things together.
What you’ll be doing:
* Own the full lifecycle of cloud infrastructure on AWS, from design and implementation to ongoing optimization and reliability.
* Build and evolve secure, scalable, and highly available platforms that support applications and engineering teams.
* Collaborate closely with developers to streamline delivery, improve deployment speed, and enhance observability and security across environments.
Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and maintain AWS-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform), including state management and drift detection.
* Architect secure VPCs, networking, security groups, IAM roles and policies following least-privilege principles, load balancers, and containerized workloads on ECS Fargate or EC2, and ECR.
* Create and own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to build Docker images, manage environment configurations and secrets, and support branch-based deployment strategies.
* Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting with CloudWatch and other observability tools to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
* Champion engineering best practices related to Git workflows, security, and container security, acting as a key partner for the engineering team.
Your skills:
* Strong DevOps mindset with a focus on automation, reliability, and developer experience.
* Deep hands-on experience with AWS core services such as ECS, ECR, VPC, ALB, S3, EC2, SNS, SQS, and CloudFront.
* Solid expertise in Docker and container-centric architectures.
* Experience working with GitFlow or similar branching strategies in cross-functional, remote-friendly teams.
* Confident English communication skills for collaboration with international stakeholders.
What we require:
* More than 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS, ideally for containerized applications.
* Proven experience building and maintaining fully automated CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions.
* Expert-level knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform, and secure cloud networking and IAM design.
* Strong focus on security, including VPC, IAM, and container security best practices.
* Excellent English skills for daily collaboration, documentation, and asynchronous communication.
Will be a plus:
* Experience with multi-cloud environments such as Azure or GCP, and Kubernetes.
* Knowledge of serverless architectures and FinOps practices.
* Familiarity with additional CI/CD tools and infrastructure testing frameworks.
* Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and experience with configuration management tools.
* Experience with advanced monitoring, security tooling, and compliance frameworks.
* Previous experience working with globally distributed, fully remote teams.
