As a Private Cloud Architect, you will own the top-level design and evolution of our private cloud infrastructure, with particular focus on network architecture, security, scalability, and cost efficiency. You’ll work closely with a small, highly skilled engineering team in a culture that values first-principles thinking, data-driven decisions, and egoless technical debate. Experience / Skills required: Must have: 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and optimizing systems software and infrastructure architectures Deep expertise in networking, with the ability to operate at both system design and implementation levels Strong working knowledge of one or more private cloud domains, such as: Virtualization, Storage systems, Service modeling and REST API / SDK generation, High-performance or scientific computing, Kernel or low-level systems development Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting distributed systems Proficiency in at least one systems programming language (C, C++, or Go) Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or Bash) Comfort working in *Unix/Linux (“nix”) environments Upper-Intermediate English and better Good to have: Knowledge of zero-trust security models and private cloud compliance standards Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud connectivity Experience with low-latency networking technologies (e.g., DPDK, RDMA) Hands-on experience with SLAs, SLOs, incident management, and reliability best practices Experience with—or strong interest in—AI-assisted infrastructure automation and optimization Experience with distributed SQL databases Experience with or interest in distributed elastic AI / LLM CPU inference (e.g., OpenVINO, llama.cpp) Responsibilities: Design and develop major private cloud infrastructure components with a strong focus on fault tolerance, performance, and scalability Own infrastructure systems end-to-end, from architectural design through production operation Drive the top-level architecture and long-term technical direction of the private cloud Provide deep architectural expertise in networking, security, and infrastructure best practices Collaborate closely with a small, senior engineering team to design, integrate, and operate core systems Enable fact-driven decision-making by grounding discussions in data, metrics, and code Continuously improve system reliability, usability, and operational efficiency Partner across teams to ensure seamless integration and successful operation of infrastructure services Explore and apply AI-powered techniques for automation, observability, and infrastructure optimization Practice distributed leadership—comfortably shifting between leading, collaborating, and supporting peers
