Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role: The AI Infrastructure & Technology Consulting Lead is a strategic position responsible for transforming the IT Administration function into a profitable, customer-facing business unit. The role combines AI expertise, technical leadership, business development, consulting, and operational management to deliver innovative infrastructure, hosting, cloud, security, and AI solutions to external clients while ensuring internal technological excellence. This individual will serve as the key link between executive management and the technical team, driving commercial growth, enhancing service offerings, and establishing the IT division as a recognized consulting and technology solutions provider.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the strategy to establish the IT Administration department as an independent profit-generating business unit.
- Define and manage the roadmap for AI, infrastructure, hosting, and security service offerings.
- Drive the achievement of profitability targets, including the milestone of generating at least 25% of departmental costs through external projects.
- Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities related to AI, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, hosting solutions, and sovereign infrastructure.
Business Development & Consulting:
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities within the B2B market.
- Consult clients on AI infrastructure, private AI deployments, cloud migration, hosting, and security solutions.
- Lead customer engagements from initial consultation through solution design and implementation.
- Work closely with Marketing to define value propositions, create market-relevant content, and generate qualified leads.
- Manage Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) and convert opportunities into revenue-generating projects.
- Build long-term client relationships and become a trusted advisor on technology transformation initiatives.
AI & Infrastructure Solutions:
- Maintain deep knowledge of AI tools, platforms, and technologies utilized within the business.
- Design and recommend solutions in AI hosting environments.
- Design and recommend solutions in private and sovereign AI infrastructure.
- Design and recommend solutions in cloud migration services.
- Design and recommend solutions in Linux-based hosting platforms.
- Design and recommend solutions in data centre operations.
- Design and recommend solutions in cybersecurity solutions.
- Design and recommend solutions in infrastructure management and monitoring.
- Design and recommend solutions in Hermes Hosting and related hosting services.
- Evaluate emerging AI and security technologies for commercial opportunities and business application.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and organize technical teams.
- Ensure alignment between customer requirements and technical delivery teams.
- Establish clear processes, governance structures, and service standards.
- Facilitate collaboration between technical specialists, sales, marketing, and management.
Customer & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary interface between customers, management, and technical teams.
- Translate technical solutions into business benefits for clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure excellent client communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain high client satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.
Operational Excellence:
- Develop and implement scalable operational processes.
- Ensure 24/7 service reliability and infrastructure stability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across hosting, support, and infrastructure operations.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks for the profit unit.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in AI, cybersecurity, Linux administration, or infrastructure management are advantageous.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience within IT infrastructure, hosting, cloud, cybersecurity, or data centre environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
- Experience working in organizations operating self-hosted infrastructure and 24/7 environments.
- Strong Linux infrastructure and hosting experience.
- Demonstrated success in technology consulting and customer-facing roles.
- Experience selling technology solutions, hosting services, cloud services, or managed services.
- Experience working within B2B sales environments.
- Exposure to AI implementation, AI hosting, or AI-related technology services.
