We believe that we can make big changes happen and improve the daily lives of millions of people by bringing quality software to the federal space. We're looking for a Java Engineer to join our DHA EIDS team, building and maintaining the backend services and integrations that power enterprise health data delivery across the Military Health System.What you'll be doing:Design and develop backend services and APIs in Java (Java 11/17+) and .NET (ASP.NET Core / .NET 6+)Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and ASP.NET CoreWork across the full backend stack including business logic, data access, and API integrationsWrite clean, well-tested code using JUnit, xUnit/NUnit, and test-driven development practicesLeverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality and securityContribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Git, GitHub Actions, or similar toolingParticipate in code reviews, technical design, and Agile ceremoniesWhat you’ll bring:5+ years of professional software development experienceStrong Java proficiency with hands-on experience in modern Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, JPA/Hibernate).NET development experience including C#, ASP.NET Core, and Web API developmentProficiency in SQL and relational databases such as MS SQL Server or OracleExperience with unit and integration testing frameworksDemonstrated experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor for development tasksExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS is a plusUnderstanding of federal security and compliance requirements is a plusThrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and genuinely enjoys working closely with a cross-functional teamCommunicates clearly and openly, whether in a code review or a cross-team planning sessionPerforms other related duties as assignedRequirements:Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
