Requirements and responsibilities

About us:At Eon, we are at the forefront of large-scale neuroscientific connectomic data collection. Our mission is to enable the safe and scalable development of brain emulation technology to empower humanity over the next decade, starting with a digital twins of a fruit fly and a mouse.RoleAt Eon, we intend to create a embodied digital twins of animals. This role would create embodied Drosophila that perform tasks using existing physics simulations (MuJoCo). They would integrate these body simulations with connectome-based brain simulations to create the realistic, embodied brain models. Extensive, hands-on experience with computational neuroscience is required.ResponsibilitiesUse existing embodied fly models (e.g., Flybody, NeuroMechFly/Flygym) to simulate Drosophila melanogaster behaviors.Create compelling demonstrations of virtual flies performing tasks in a virtual environment.Customize and iterate models to achieve biologically plausible behaviors.Document all code and workflows to ensure reproducibility.Creation of virtual environments and bodies in Drosophila, and eventually mice.SkillsProficiency in Python, and familiarity with scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, Matplotlib).Experience with brain or biomechanics simulation tools (e.g., MuJoCo, the Gymnasium API, Flybody, Flygym, Brian2).Knowledge of neuroscience, computational biology, or related fields. Background in Drosophila neuroscience would be ideal.Strong ability to create polished and engaging visualizations.PhD or equivalent qualifications in neuroscience or related field would be ideal, but is not requiredRepresentative projectsThese are examples of projects that you would be working on when joining us:Creation of embodied, virtual fliesVisualization of brain activityPlanning experimental data collection to best complement our computational biology data setsSalaryCompetitive salary, including equity, apply.
