What you'll be doing:Develop, optimize, and qualify laser ablation and laser scribing processes for thin-film photovoltaic layers (P1/P2/P3 patterning or equivalent).Operate and maintain roll-to-roll laser scribing systems used for thin-film production.Monitor process parameters and equipment performance to ensure optimal web tension, alignment, and film uniformity.Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on web-handling and deposition equipment.Work with the team to optimize and develop new processes.Support process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with engineering and R&D teams.Handle substrates and materials (e.g., substrates, WIP) with care and precision in accordance with SOPs.Document operational steps, process deviations, and maintenance activities in production logs and reports.What you will bring to this role:Hands-on experience with alignment, calibration, and maintenance of industrial laser equipment (optics, beam delivery, scanners, stages).Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Lasers, Optics, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.Minimum 5 years experience developing industrial laser processes (ablation, scribing, cutting, drilling, surface modification).Strong understanding of web dynamics including tension control, tracking, splicing, and substrate handling.Familiarity with laser scribing techniques for thin films.Comfortable working with mechanical, optical, and electrical systems on production tools.Extra points for the following:Characterize laser–material interactions across different thin-film stacks (semiconductors, metals and dielectrics).Knowledge of process control systems (SCADA, PLC) and data logging tools.Previous work in pilot-scale or high-volume manufacturing of flexible electronics or photovoltaics.Expertise with roll-to-roll (R2R) systems or web-based manufacturing.About the CompanyReady to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable?
