• The primary barriers to participation in public assistance programs include (1) lack of knowledge around public benefits, (2) fear of stigma, (3) a complex application process, and (4) communication challenges with local offices. How do we help people overcome these barriers? That’s where the Benefits Outreach Specialist (BOS) role comes in. BOS candidates should expect their day-to-day to be a combination of inbound calls (approx. 80%), outbound calls (approx. 20%), paperwork processing, and data entry in a fast-paced yet casual call center environment.
