Requirements and responsibilities

The Problem We're SolvingMost people don't think twice about going to the doctor. But for over 85 million uninsured and underinsured Americans — the cashiers, drivers, home health aides, and construction workers who keep this country running — getting care is complicated, expensive, and often out of reach. We built Vitable to change that.Vitable is the health benefits platform designed for every worker. We make it easy for employers to offer real, high-quality healthcare to their teams — not watered-down coverage, but benefits that actually work. It's better for employees. It's smarter for employers. And it matters. We're a small, passionate team moving fast and solving a problem that genuinely deserves solving. If you're looking for a place where your work has a tangible impact on real people's lives, you've found it.WHERE YOU COME INVitable Health is adding a Head of Compliance to lead all compliance functions related to the Company's self-funded health plan business. This individual will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across plan administration, regulatory filings, marketing and sales materials, and third-party vendor relationships, including third-party administrators (TPAs), pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and insurance carriers. This is a foundational hire responsible for both executing compliance operations directly and establishing the compliance infrastructure to support the Company's growth.YOUR DAY TO DAYEnsure that all self-funded health plans administered by the Company comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including but not limited to ERISA, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA, COBRA, and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.Manage and execute regulatory filings on behalf of customers and plan sponsors, including Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Form 5500 filings, plan documents, and other state and federal filings required in connection with TPA operations.Review and approve all customer-facing marketing, sales, and enrollment materials to ensure regulatory compliance prior to publication or distribution.Act as the primary compliance liaison with TPA partners, PBMs, stop-loss carriers, fully insured carriers, and other third-party vendors. Ensure that vendor contracts, data handling practices, and operational processes meet applicable compliance standards.Monitor developments in federal and state health plan regulation, including guidance issued by state Departments of Insurance and the Department of Labor, and translate regulatory changes into operational requirements across the organization.Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries, audits, and customer due-diligence requests. Maintain documentation and internal controls sufficient to withstand regulatory examination and investor or acquirer due diligence.Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures. Provide compliance training to personnel involved in plan administration, sales, and customer data handling.WHAT YOU'RE MADE OFMinimum of 5 years of progressive compliance experience within a health plan, third-party administrator (TPA), or managing general agency/underwriter (MGA/MGU) environment.Demonstrated experience managing compliance relationships with stop-loss carriers, PBMs, and TPA partners.Direct experience with self-funded plan documentation and filings, including SPDs, PCORI, Form 5500 and ACA filings.Demonstrated ability to build and operate compliance processes independently, without reliance on an established team.Experience with ICHRA, level-funded, or MEC/MVP plan structures preferred.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEWithin the first year, the Head of Compliance will have established audit-ready compliance documentation across all administered plans, implemented a defined review process for marketing and sales materials, formalized vendor compliance monitoring, and positioned the Company to produce a complete compliance package on demand for customer, regulatory, or investor review.HOW WE TAKE CARE OF YOUWe believe in taking care of the people who take care of our members. What we have is a clear mission, a lot of heart, and a deep sense of urgency about the problem we're solving. That means we move fast, figure things out, and hold ourselves to a high bar — not because someone's watching, but because we care. You'll thrive here if you're the kind of person who:Feels personally connected to making healthcare more accessibleGets energized by building, not just maintainingCan navigate ambiguity without losing momentumDoes the unglamorous work when it needs doing — and does it wellAsks for help when you need it and offers it when you see someone else doesCares about the details, but keeps sight of the bigger pictureWe're a team that shows up for each other.
