You will work closely with backend, platform, product, and design teams to deliver reliable, scalable frontend systems that handle real-time data and complex workflows.This role is ideal for someone who is deeply technical, performance-focused, and excited about building systems that operate in real-world, mission-critical environments.Key ResponsibilitiesFrontend Systems DevelopmentDevelop scalable, performant user interfaces using ReactImplement complex workflows and UI components for data-rich applicationsBuild interfaces that support real-time data, operational decision-making, and mission-critical workflowsDeliver intuitive, reliable user experiences for complex technical systemsData Integration & PerformanceIntegrate frontend systems with backend services using REST, GraphQL, or similar APIsOptimize rendering performance for large datasets and real-time updatesEnsure responsive, reliable performance across devices, browsers, and operating environmentsSupport frontend performance monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvementArchitecture & MaintainabilityContribute to frontend architecture, including state management, data flow, and application structureBuild and maintain reusable component libraries and UI systemsWrite clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented codeImprove frontend reliability, scalability, and developer experience over timeCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with backend, platform, product, and design teams to deliver end-to-end featuresCollaborate with UX/design to ensure high-quality implementation and usabilityParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, technical planning, and roadmap executionHelp align frontend capabilities with product, platform, and mission needsQualifications5–8+ years of experience in frontend engineering or related software engineering rolesStrong expertise in React and modern JavaScript or TypeScriptExperience building map-based or geospatial applications using tools such as Mapbox, Leaflet, or Deck.glExperience building data-driven, high-performance web applicationsExperience working with APIs and asynchronous data flowsStrong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and performance optimizationExperience with modern frontend tooling, build systems, and development workflowsAbility to build reliable interfaces for complex workflows and data-rich applicationsStrong technical judgment and ability to operate independently in fast-moving environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearancePreferred SkillsFamiliarity with WebGL or advanced visualization frameworksExperience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or similar toolsUnderstanding of design systems and reusable component architectureExperience with real-time systems, data streaming applications, or operational dashboardsExperience supporting mission-critical, real-world deployed systemsExperience working in small, fast-moving engineering teams or high-growth technology companiesActive or prior security clearanceWhat Success Looks LikeWithin 12 months, success in this role looks like scalable, high-performance frontend systems that support real-world operations.
