# Spanish-Speaking Podcast Editor — SunCast LATAM
**Freelance / Contract | Remote | Spanish Fluency Required**
[SunCast] is looking for an experienced **Spanish-speaking podcast editor** to help produce our Spanish-language podcast content for the Latin American clean energy market.
We're looking for more than someone who can simply cut between cameras. We need an editor with strong editorial instincts who understands conversation, pacing, storytelling, audio, and video — and can turn a long-form recorded interview into a polished episode that feels natural, intentional, and consistent with the quality of the [SunCast](https://www.suncast.media/) brand.
Because these episodes are recorded in Spanish, **professional fluency in Spanish is essential**. You need to understand the conversation well enough to recognize retakes, mistakes, unnecessary filler, strong moments, awkward transitions, and the best sections of an interview to highlight.
## What You'll Be Editing
Most episodes are long-form conversations between host Nico Johnson and founders, executives, investors, policymakers, and other leaders in the solar, energy storage, and broader clean energy industries.
For each episode, you'll typically create:
* A fully produced **audio podcast episode**
* A fully produced **4K video episode**
* A clean **internal audio edit**
* A clean **internal video edit**
You'll receive the recorded interview along with the graphics, music, animations, branding assets, and production instructions required for the episode.
## What You'll Be Responsible For
### Editorial Editing
You'll be responsible for shaping the raw recording into a conversation that feels polished without feeling over-edited.
That includes:
* Identifying and removing retakes, false starts, mistakes, claps, countdowns, and recording interruptions
* Removing unnecessary filler words where appropriate
* Cleaning up awkward pauses or editing issues
* Maintaining the guest's natural speaking style and conversational rhythm
* Making edits invisible whenever possible
* Identifying natural points for mid-roll breaks
* Finding a compelling **20–30 second hook** from the interview to open the episode
* Maintaining continuity so the finished conversation feels organic
We want someone who understands the difference between **cleaning up a conversation and sterilizing it**. The personality and natural rhythm of the speakers should remain intact.
### Video Editing
Our video episodes are produced in 4K and generally involve multiple camera feeds.
You'll be expected to:
* Sync all recorded audio and video
* Correct synchronization issues when necessary
* Color-grade each participant so the cameras feel visually consistent
* Switch cameras based on who is speaking
* Use a side-by-side or wide shot strategically to add visual interest and help conceal edits
* Incorporate host reactions naturally when appropriate
* Add [SunCast](https://www.suncast.media/) branding and supplied graphics
* Add lower thirds using our established visual style
* Integrate intro animations and transitions
* Add the supplied end screen at the end of the episode
* Deliver a polished video that feels dynamic without becoming distracting or over-produced
Good multicam judgment is particularly important. We don't want camera changes simply for the sake of changing cameras; cuts should support the conversation.
### Audio Editing & Mastering
You should be comfortable producing professional podcast audio independently.
Responsibilities include:
* Dialogue cleanup
* Noise reduction where necessary
* EQ and compression
* Level balancing between speakers
* Music integration
* Clean transitions
* Final loudness targeting around **-16 LUFS**
* Delivering the final podcast as a **mono 192 kbps MP3**
* Delivering a clean internal audio version as a **WAV**
Our produced episodes use dedicated intro and outro music as well as clearly defined spaces for mid-roll advertisements.
### Internal Clean Edits
In addition to the published version of each episode, we'll need clean internal masters.
These are fully edited versions of the conversation **without additional production assets** such as:
* Music
* Lower thirds
* Animations
* End screens
* Other publication graphics
The internal audio master should be delivered as a WAV, along with a high-quality internal video master.
## What We're Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you:
* Are **fluent or native-level in Spanish**
* Can understand spoken Spanish well enough to make editorial decisions without relying solely on transcripts
* Have professional experience editing long-form podcasts, interviews, YouTube shows, or similar conversational content
* Are highly proficient in professional video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or an equivalent NLE
* Have strong podcast audio editing and mixing skills
* Understand multicamera interview editing
* Have strong instincts around pacing and storytelling
* Know how to use reaction shots and alternate camera angles to hide edits naturally
* Are comfortable with color correction and matching different camera sources
* Can identify a strong opening hook from a 45–90+ minute conversation
* Notice technical problems rather than simply editing around them
* Can follow an established production template consistently
* Have excellent attention to detail
* Can reliably manage large video files and 4K workflows
* Communicate clearly and hit agreed-upon deadlines
**English proficiency is also helpful**, as you'll be collaborating with members of the broader [SunCast](https://www.suncast.media/) production team and some internal documentation and communication may be in English.
## The Kind of Editor We Want
Technical editing ability is important, but we're particularly interested in **editorial judgment**.
A great editor should be able to watch an interview and recognize:
*"That's the opening hook."*
*"That answer needs tightening."*
*"This was clearly a retake."*
*"Switching to the wide shot here will hide the edit."*
*"That pause should stay because it makes the moment feel real."*
*"These two cameras don't match and need additional grading."*
We're looking for someone who actively improves the episode rather than simply executing cuts on a timeline.
