Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain robust Kafka clusters to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance across the enterprise.
- Monitor cluster health, performance metrics, and resource utilization to proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks or failures.
- Manage Kafka security configurations, including authentication, authorization, and encryption, to ensure compliance with healthcare industry data protection standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as version upgrades, patch management, and configuration tuning to optimize system stability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to provide architectural guidance on Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer group strategies.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues related to data streaming, message delivery, and cluster connectivity.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Automate administrative tasks and infrastructure provisioning using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
Requirements:
- Must be located in the United States.
- Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in information technology, with a strong focus on distributed systems and messaging platforms.
- Deep technical expertise in Kafka administration, including cluster architecture, Zookeeper management, and Kafka Connect.
- Proven experience working within the healthcare industry, with a solid understanding of data privacy regulations and security requirements.
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and networking concepts relevant to distributed messaging environments.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools to maintain visibility into cluster performance and health.
- Ability to analyze complex data streaming requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable Kafka configurations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-stakes, production-critical environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams.
