This role drives profitable growth, underwriting discipline, and operational execution across both their own portfolio and the broader underwriting team.The position partners closely with senior leadership, distribution partners, and cross-functional teams to execute underwriting strategy, maintain strong broker relationships, and support the continued scaling of the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong technical underwriter, proven people leader, and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve production and profitability goalsConduct regular file reviews, coaching sessions, and performance discussionsDrive underwriting consistency, accountability, and execution across the teamAssist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new underwriting talentFoster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with company valuesUnderwriting & Book ManagementManage and grow an individual book of business while maintaining profitability and underwriting disciplineReview, evaluate, and approve complex or large account referrals within authorityMaintain strong relationships with brokers and distribution partners to drive new business opportunitiesEnsure underwriting quality, pricing adequacy, and adherence to underwriting guidelinesMonitor portfolio performance, rate adequacy, loss trends, and exposure managementPartner with actuarial, claims, and leadership teams on emerging trends and strategyMaintain strong underwriting discipline while balancing growth objectivesBroker & Distribution ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and distribution partnersSupport business development initiatives and strategic broker engagementTravel as needed for broker meetings, industry events, and relationship managementServe as a trusted underwriting resource for both internal and external stakeholdersOperational & Strategic ExecutionAssist in developing underwriting guidelines, workflow improvements, and best practicesSupport implementation of underwriting tools, technology, and operational initiativesCollaborate with leadership on business planning, forecasting, and growth strategyEnsure compliance with carrier guidelines, authority levels, and regulatory requirementsAbout youHere at Ledgebrook we are passionate about creating a team that is on a continuous learning journey and that shares our excitement about building a company from the ground up.
