Requirements and responsibilities

About Ampd EnergyAt Ampd Energy, we are trailblazers in making the construction industry emission-free. We've developed advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) to replace diesel generators that power the world's construction, mining, and industrial sites. After a transformational 2025 - launching new products, scaling our ODM partnership, and restructuring for profitable growth - we're positioned for our inflection year in 2026, targeting US $50 million in revenue and EBITDA-positive performance by Q2. We're a values-driven company looking for candidates aligned with our core values: Selfless, Never Satisfied, Passionate, Resourceful, and Bold.Role Overview: Ampd Energy is seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial strategy, deal execution, and operational finance as we scale. This is not a traditional accounting role — we need someone who thinks like an investor, moves like a banker, and wants to build the skillset to run a full finance function. You'll be the strategic finance partner to the CEO, supporting major transactions (equity raises, M&A, debt refinancing), leading operational deals, driving commercial discipline into pricing and capital deployment decisions, and ensuring we manage liquidity and cash flow with precision during rapid growth. You'll manage a lean, high-performing finance team of three, including a strong accounting lead, plus external consultants for tax and corporate secretarial functions. If you're an ex-banker who's hungry to transition into operational finance leadership — this is your opportunity. What You'll Do:Support Major Deals: Provide analytical support and deal execution for equity raises, M&A, and major debt refinancing. Build financial models, support due diligence, and assist in Board-level decision-making. The goal is for you to lead these transactions as you grow into the role.Lead Operational Deals: Own lease-to-own structures with banks and customers, customer financing arrangements, and buyback deals. Run the analysis, structure the deals, and drive them to close.Drive Commercial Finance: Provide analytical support on pricing strategies and capital deployment decisions. Challenge assumptions, run scenarios, and ensure commercial decisions are financially sound.Manage Liquidity and Forecasting: Lead financial planning, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management. Ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity through growth, anticipating capital needs and managing the timing of receipts and payments.Own the Financial Close: Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and management accounts. Work with external tax consultants and manage corporate secretarial requirements across multiple jurisdictions. You don't need accounting or tax experience to be hired - you need the ability and desire to learn it.Build Financial Discipline: Implement systems, controls, and reporting that scale with the business. Challenge the status quo, simplify processes, and get things done without bureaucracy.Develop Your Team: Manage three direct reports, including the accounting lead, plus coordinate external consultants. Build capability, set clear expectations, and create a culture of ownership and delivery.Who You Are:Deal-Focused Background: 5-8 years in investment banking (debt or equity), private equity, or corporate development. You've built financial models under pressure, analysed complex transactions, and know how to structure deals that work. We don't care about your degree — we care about your deal experience.Hungry to Grow: You want to expand beyond deal analysis into running a full finance function. You're willing to take on accounting, tax, and corporate secretarial responsibilities and learn them properly. You see this as your opportunity to build the complete skillset.Analytical and Commercial: You understand how businesses make money. You can translate financial analysis into clear commercial recommendations and push back when things don't add up.Execution-Oriented: You ask "why," challenge assumptions, and get things done. You're not waiting for perfect information — you move fast, make decisions, and adjust as you learn.Comfortable with Ambiguity: You thrive in a high-growth, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and you need to figure things out. You don't need a playbook - you write it.Clear Communicator: You can explain complex financial concepts simply to non-finance stakeholders. You're confident presenting to the CEO, Board, and investors. What You'll Get:Competitive Package: Base salary, performance bonus, and equity participation in a high-growth company.Direct CEO Partnership: You'll work closely with the CEO on the company's most important financial and strategic decisions. The CEO was previously a CFO and will invest in developing you - a rare opportunity most non-CFO CEOs wouldn't offer.Build Your Finance Leadership Skillset: This role sets you up to lead finance functions in the future. You'll get exposure to the full spectrum - deals, operations, accounting, tax, treasury - with hands-on mentorship. This is a rare opportunity to transition from deal analysis into operational finance leadership at a company on the cusp of its breakout year. If you're ready to build, not just advise - apply.
