A Little More About The role:We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Engineering team and contribute to building and scaling Gravie’s healthcare payment and benefits systems. In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, develop, test, and ship high-quality software that powers experiences for members, employers, brokers, and internal teams.This is a great opportunity for someone with strong development fundamentals who is ready to deepen their impact, learn from senior engineers, and take ownership of features in a growing, mission-driven company.You will:Design, build, test, and deploy reliable, scalable software for our products and internal systemsCollaborate with team members to break down and estimate work, write clean and maintainable code, and participate in code reviewsWork across the stack on backend services, APIs, data layers, and/or frontend experiences based on your skill setParticipate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvementInvestigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues or bugs in production environmentsFollow security and compliance standards relevant to our healthcare and payment domainsLearn our technical architecture and contribute to evolving platform capabilitiesDemonstrate commitment to Gravie’s core competencies of being authentic, curious, creative, empathetic, and outcome-orientedYou bring:2–4 years of professional software development experienceStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable codeProficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, etc.)Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and cloud-based architecturesExperience working on backend systems, APIs, or full-stack applicationsComfort working in Agile environments with collaboration across disciplinesCuriosity, humility, and a desire to learn from teammates and stakeholdersEligibility to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship, now or in the futureExtra credit:Experience working in a regulated industry like healthcare or financial servicesFamiliarity with microservices, event-driven systems, or real-time payment workflowsExposure to frontend frameworks like React or Vue.jsExperience with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practicesParticipation in open-source communities or personal technical projectsGravie:In order to transform health insurance and build a health plan everyone can love, we need talented people doing amazing work. Numerous factors including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. will be considered when determining compensation.Our unique benefits program is the gravy, i.e., the special sauce that sets our compensation package apart.
