Job title: Sales Manager - SaaS Sales.
Type: Contract, ongoing, with a path to a full-time head of sales role as bookings grow.
Location: Remote, worldwide, with meaningful overlap with US business hours.
Compensation: Commission on every deal the team closes and on every deal you close yourself, paid from the first one. There is no base salary while we are pre-revenue and we are not going to pretend otherwise. As bookings build, this converts to base plus commission, and this is the seat our head of sales comes out of. The structure is discussed on the first call and we expect you to negotiate it. If you need a salary before anything has sold, this is not your role. If you want to build a sales organization from the first deal forward in a category nobody has locked up, it is.
About the company: Melora Connect is membership management software for organizations of every size, from small local groups to large national and international bodies: associations, chambers of commerce, societies, federations, councils, nonprofits and professional membership organizations. The product is built and in front of its first customers.
Why this role exists: We have account executives who close and a sales development track that books calls. What we do not have is someone who owns the number. Territories are split three ways, the CRM holds tens of thousands of contacts, and right now the founder is the one coaching calls, inspecting pipeline and deciding what gets worked. That does not scale past the first customers. This is the seat that takes it over.
What you will do:
- Own the number. Forecast it honestly, including the months it is not going to happen.
- Lead and coach the sales team: account executives closing deals and sales development associates booking them. Listen to calls, run pipeline reviews, and fix what is broken in the conversation rather than asking for more activity.
- Carry a small book yourself. In a team this size the manager still sells, and you should want to.
- Build the sales system: the playbook, discovery framework, demo standard, pricing conversation, objection handling, and the process in HubSpot that keeps it honest.
- Beat the two objections that kill deals in this category: "we cannot move fifteen years of member data" and "the board will not approve a change this year." We have answers. You will sharpen them and make sure everyone can deliver them.
- Own competitive positioning against WildApricot, MemberClicks, GrowthZone, Glue Up and StarChapter.
- Set territories, quotas and compensation as the team grows, and hire the next reps.
- Work the ecosystem yourself: industry groups, conferences, referral partners and the vendor marketplace.
Honest framing on stage: we are pre-revenue with a built product, a large warm database, and a founder who sold in this exact category for years. You are not inheriting a machine. You are building one, and the first version of it will be you on calls.
Who we are looking for: You have carried a quota and then managed people who carry one. You are comfortable with four and five figure annual contracts and a sales cycle that can include a board vote. You can coach a rep through a bad call without demoralizing them. You are self-directed, because nobody here is going to monitor your activity. You can hold a room of non-technical people and make changing software feel safe rather than risky. Software or SaaS sales leadership is what matters. No specific industry background is required. Applicants worldwide welcome.
What you get: commission from the first deal, a product that is already built, a warm database and a sales development track feeding the funnel, a founder who answers immediately, and first claim on the head of sales seat as this scales.
