You will be responsible for guiding your squad on architectural decisions, establishing best practices, and ensuring the team executes with technical excellence. Your leadership will be critical in driving innovation, performance, and reliability for our backend services.Overall you willAct as the Engineering lead within a squad, guiding the team on architectural decisions, best practices, and technical executionCollaborate closely with frontend technical leads, ensuring smooth integration between backend and frontend servicesLead the technical strategy for backend development, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performanceOwn the architecture and design of backend services, establishing best practices and guiding the team on complex technical decisionsDevelop and maintain robust, high-performance backend services using Node.js and NestJS (Express)Drive technical innovation by researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance development processesEnsure system reliability and performance through well-structured testing, monitoring, and logging strategiesCollaborate cross-functionally with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to align technical solutions with business goalsMentor and coach backend developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learningEstablish and enforce coding standards and best practices for backend developmentOversee deployments and production operations, ensuring high availability and fast issue resolutionParticipate in hiring processes, helping to attract and assess top engineering talentQualifications5+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead roleStrong expertise in Node.js and NestJS (Express) for building scalable backend applicationsDeep understanding of RESTful API design, security, and performance optimizationAdvanced knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including database modeling, performance tuning, and query optimizationExperience implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworksExpertise in architectural patterns such as microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systemsHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (preferably GCP), and infrastructure-as-code (IaC)Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop engineering teamsExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and squadsProblem-solving mindset, analytical thinking, and ability to navigate complex technical challengesAbility to work in a fast-paced startup environment with autonomy and ownershipSpanish and English proficiencyDesirable SkillsExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka, PubSub)Exposure to serverless computing and cloud-native development patternsInterview ProcessSilver screening InterviewSilver Technical Interview (System Design Interview)Client Screening InterviewClient Technical interviewClient Behavioral InterviewCompensation Range: $67K - $78K
