Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with broad experience and local knowledge who can represent our clients on-demand and on-site faster than our competitors.Job DescriptionWe're actively seeking a remote Quality Engineer to do DTS PFMEA reviews. This is a 4-10 week contract position. The role is part time, doing as-needed work 15-35 hour work weeks. We are looking for associates with strong experience in the aerospace industry who is okay with as-needed work.Keep ResponsibilitiesPFMEA and PPAP reviewsAssess completeness and technical accuracy of:Failure modes and failure mechanismsCause-effect relationships tied to process stepsEvaluate:Severity, Occurrence, Detection rankingsRisk prioritization methodology (RPN or equivalent)Challenge robustness of:Preventive vs. detection controlsVerify alignment with:Actual manufacturing process flowKnown risks identified during assessments (RCR, commodity review, FAI)Ensure full linkage between PFMEA and Control PlanEvaluate:Control methods (error-proofing, SPC, inspection)Reaction plans for out-of-spec (OOS) conditionsConfirm:Coverage of critical characteristicsAdequacy of inspection frequency and methodsReview statistical capability studies (Cp, Cpk)Validate:Data integrity and collection methodologySample size and statistical relevanceProcess stability (variation analysis)Confirm readiness against thresholds (e.g., Cpk ≥ 1.33)Develop structured engineering review reports including:Gap assessment (Critical / Major / Minor)Risk implicationsRecommended corrective actionsProvide clear DTS readiness recommendationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or equivalent)7+ years in:Aerospace, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environmentsSupplier quality or process engineeringStrong experience with:PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAPStatistical analysis and process capabilityDeep understanding of:Failure mechanisms and risk analysisManufacturing processes (machining, forming, assembly)Strong knowledge of:AS9100 / ISO 9001 / GMP (as applicable)AIAG Core Tools (PFMEA, MSA, SPC)Ability to interpret:Engineering drawings and specificationsInspection and test dataCritical thinking and technical rigorAbility to challenge supplier assumptions constructivelyStrong written communication (client-facing reports)Detail-oriented with systems-level thinkingCompensation$70 - $70 an hourAdditional Requirements / NotesSQA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
