About ZODLZODL (Zcash Open Development Lab) is building the software necessary to onboard billions of users to Zcash. Created by the original inventors and developers of the Zcash protocol, we deliver world-class UX for ZEC on top of our core protocol work. Our product suite includes Zodl mobile (iOS and Android) with built-in cross-chain swaps, and Zallet, a full-node Zcash wallet written in Rust, built as a replacement for the zcashd wallet. On the horizon: Zodl Vault (a desktop wallet for multisig, inheritance, and institutional use cases), web-based wallets, and headless/agentic wallet infrastructure. The RoleWe’re building a privacy-first, self-custody mobile wallet where reliability is critical — bugs don’t just frustrate users, they can result in lost funds. We’re looking for a Senior QA Lead who can elevate quality across the product, not just test it. You’ll define how QA works, embed it into development, and ensure we can ship fast without compromising quality. What you'll doDefine and implement a QA strategy from the ground up (process, tools, coverage)Establish risk-based testing across critical wallet flowsBuild and maintain real-world test scenarios (not just test cases)Integrate QA into the development lifecycle (not just end-of-cycle testing)Lead release QA with clear pass/fail criteria and ownershipIdentify and implement high-impact automation where it actually adds valuePartner closely with mobile engineers (Swift/Kotlin) to catch issues earlyDrive a culture where quality is shared across the teamWhat we’re looking forCore qualitiesThinks in edge cases and failure modes, not just happy pathsPragmatic — knows when to test manually vs automateSystem builder — can design QA processes, not just execute themHigh ownership — treats product quality as a core responsibilityComfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environmentsSkillsStrong experience testing native mobile apps (iOS + Android)Ability to understand and navigate Swift and Kotlin codebasesFamiliarity with E2E / UI automation frameworks (e.g. Detox or similar)Experience testing complex stateful flows (offline, retries, app lifecycle)Strong understanding of release processes and regression testingRequired experience5+ years in QA, with significant time in mobile-focused rolesProven experience building or scaling QA processes in a startup or fast-paced environmentExperience testing high-risk or high-reliability systems (e.g. fintech, crypto, payments, health)Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testingPreferred (but not required)Experience with crypto wallets, key management, or security-sensitive appsFamiliarity with mobile storage systems (Keychain, Keystore)Experience testing network edge cases and unreliable connectivity scenariosExperience with testing tools such asMaestroPlaywrightSwift TestingModel-Context-Protocol (MCP) for AI-driven testingWhat success looks likeReleases become predictable and low-riskCritical flows are consistently stable across devices and edge casesQA is embedded in development — not a bottleneck at the endThe team ships faster with higher confidenceIf you read this and thought “this is not just QA, this is ownership of quality” — we should talk.
