They build software that matters. Their users are healthcare professionals, and the stakes are real. About the Role: Propelus is looking for a UX Engineer who designs and ships. This is a design-leaning hybrid role: you own the user experience end to end — from research and interaction design through high-fidelity, production-ready front-end. You will spend most of your time in design and UX, and you will use Claude Design (or similar AI tools) to turn designs into working code that engineers can build on — no traditional handoff required. You will work on CE Broker and Evercheck, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create intuitive, accessible interfaces that drive real business outcomes. As a Level III IC, you are expected to lead design-engineering discussions and raise the quality bar across everything you own. This work lives in regulated healthcare contexts — accessibility, clarity, and trust are not optional. The best candidate treats them as core craft. What You Will Do: - Lead the design and redesign of full application experiences across CE Broker and Evercheck — from early research through shipped UI. - Conduct and synthesize user research to identify pain points and translate insights into design decisions. - Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile — validated with real users before build. - Build production-quality front-end code using React and Tailwind CSS, focused on reliability, accessibility, and performance. - Use Claude Design to move from design to working code quickly — and review that output for quality, edge cases, and maintainability before it reaches engineering. - Own and extend the design system: components, tokens, patterns, and documentation. - Lead design-engineering discussions and contribute to decisions about interaction patterns and component architecture. - Ensure ADA and WCAG accessibility compliance across everything you ship. - Stay current on UX, front-end, and AI tooling trends — and bring back what is worth adopting. What You Bring: - 4–7 years of experience as a UX/product designer with a strong portfolio of shipped products. - Proven ability to lead full application design and redesign projects end to end. - Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools — Figma experience is a plus. - Front-end development skills in React and Tailwind CSS, able to produce production-ready code. - Fluency with AI-assisted design and coding tools, including Claude Design — this is a core expectation, not a nice-to-have. - Experience building and maintaining design systems. - Strong grasp of user-centered design, product thinking, and how design connects to business strategy. - Deep understanding of ADA compliance and accessibility standards (WCAG). - Excellent communication skills — you can articulate design and technical decisions to designers, engineers, and product partners alike. - High proficiency in English (written and spoken). Bonus Points: - Experience designing for healthcare or other regulated industries. - Experience contributing to or leading AI tooling adoption within a design or engineering team. - Familiarity with analytics and experimentation to measure design impact.
