About KrakenOur Krakenites are a world-class team with crypto conviction, united by our desire to discover and unlock the potential of crypto and blockchain technology. Kraken is a mission-focused company rooted in crypto values, committed to accelerating the global adoption of crypto so that everyone can achieve financial freedom and inclusion. Kraken is fully remote, with Krakenites in 70+ countries who speak over 50 languages. The OpportunityRaise the bar across internal platforms and the customer-facing support portal by designing efficient, intuitive experiences that help both Kraken's teams and its customers get to resolution faster.Shape and evolve the design patterns and systems used across our internal product suite, ensuring consistency and quality at scale.Craft exceptional workflows by collaborating closely with other designers, product managers, engineers, and operational stakeholders who use these platforms every day.Influence decision-makers to uphold high standards of usability and experience quality, even in internal-facing contexts where UX is often an afterthought.Own your work fully, taking accountability for design quality, outcomes, and measurable impact on team efficiency and satisfaction. Define and track the KPIs that show whether your work makes a difference.Use data to inform design decisions, drawing on usage metrics, research insights, and business context to prioritize the right problems and validate solutions.Stay close to the people who use what you build by conducting research and gathering insights from internal users to continuously refine and improve your design direction.Contribute actively to design reviews, seeking and offering constructive, supportive feedback that helps raise team-wide standards. What Good Looks Like3 months: You have the lay of the land, understand where the friction is, and have shipped at least one improvement that measurably made someone’s day better. You participate in design reviews, find your footing with engineering and product partners, and use AI tools to move faster through exploration and iteration.6 months: You own a significant workstream end-to-end. Stakeholders come early for input, you’ve run at least one round of research with internal users and used it to shape a real decision, and AI is a natural part of your workflow to synthesize faster and prototype more.12 months: You’ve raised the bar: at least one core platform looks and works meaningfully better because of your involvement, and you can point to the impact. You help set the standard for how internal UX gets done at Kraken, including how the team thinks about and uses AI as part of the design process.Skills You Should HODL5+ years of end-to-end product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating strong, high-quality work across complex problem spaces.Strong UX and visual design skills; able to take on ambiguous, challenging problems and deliver thoughtful, user-centered solutions.Proficient with prototyping tools and techniques; able to communicate ideas clearly across different audiences.Comfortable owning high-impact features or projects end-to-end while staying collaborative with peers and cross-functional partners.Open to feedback, quick to iterate, and genuinely curious about improving your craft.Data-informed approach; balance user insights, business needs, and technical constraints.Strong communication and organization; manage competing priorities and keep stakeholders aligned.Solid grounding in human-centered design principles and research methods, with a track record of applying them to drive better outcomes.Confident presenting and defending design decisions to both design and non-design audiences.Familiarity with AI-powered tools like Cursor, Claude, or Codex, and eagerness to use them to move faster and think bigger.Experience designing admin tools, internal platforms, operator-facing products, or customer support experiences is a strong plus.Additional NotesUnless a specific application deadline is stated, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.Applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance/graduation.Kraken considers qualified applicants with criminal histories and evaluates candidates consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.Kraken hires strictly based on merit and is an equal opportunity employer.Kraken may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of the hiring process.
