What You Will Do – Key Responsibilities
As a Senior PHP Laravel Developer, you will play a central role in the full software development lifecycle for custom web applications serving global clients. Your day-to-day work will include a mix of hands-on coding, architectural decision-making, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Specific responsibilities include:
* Architect, design, develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications using PHP 8+ and the Laravel framework (latest versions, including Eloquent ORM, Blade templating, queues, events, and Laravel ecosystem tools).
* Build and integrate RESTful APIs (and GraphQL where applicable), ensuring secure and efficient communication with front-end applications, mobile apps, and third-party services.
* Design and optimize relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.), including schema design, complex queries, indexing, migrations, and performance tuning for high-traffic scenarios.
* Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code following SOLID principles, Laravel best practices, and modern PHP standards.
* Implement performance optimizations, caching strategies (Redis, Memcached), queue management (Laravel Horizon and queues), and scalability improvements to handle growing user loads.
* Integrate external APIs, payment gateways, authentication systems (e.g., Laravel Sanctum or Passport, OAuth), webhooks, and other third-party services while ensuring reliability and idempotency.
* Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing sessions to maintain high code quality and foster a culture of excellence.
* Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues quickly, implementing monitoring, logging, and error-handling best practices.
* Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, front-end developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
* Participate in agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
* Handle theme development and customization (Blade plus CSS and JS), front-end integration, and occasional full-stack contributions when needed.
* Ensure applications adhere to security best practices (OWASP guidelines), accessibility standards, and cross-browser and device compatibility.
