They specialize in structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, and steel installation projects for commercial construction.Position OverviewThe client is seeking a Full-Time Remote Structural Steel Estimator who will take ownership of the estimating process. This role will work closely with the owner to prepare accurate project estimates, allowing leadership to focus on project management and business operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel fabrication projects, including:Structural steelMiscellaneous steelStairsHandrailsPre-engineered metal building installationsReview architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and manual markups when necessary.Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier quotations for steel packages, materials, and subcontracted work.Work directly with company leadership to understand estimating methodologies, labor rates, overhead, and target profit margins.Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with project profitability goals.Utilize various estimating and construction management software platforms, including Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, and similar tools.Maintain organized bid documentation and support project transitions after contract award.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.3–12+ years of U.S. commercial construction estimating experience.Strong experience in structural steel fabrication estimating.Experience estimating miscellaneous metals and fabricated steel packages.Proven experience obtaining vendor quotations and managing material pricing.Proficient with construction estimating software such as:BluebeamPlanSwiftProcoreOther industry-standard estimating platformsExcellent English communication skills.Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.Non-Negotiable RequirementsAvailable to work 40 hours per week during U.S. Central Time business hours.Strong proficiency with construction estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, or equivalent).Experience obtaining vendor and supplier quotations.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to estimate accuracy.Comfortable working within established estimating processes and workflows.Direct structural steel fabrication estimating experience is required.Ideal CandidateWe're looking for someone who:Has direct experience estimating structural steel fabrication projects, not just general construction.Understands steel fabrication processes, material costs, and fabrication workflows.Produces highly accurate estimates that help protect project profitability.Takes initiative in obtaining competitive vendor pricing and validating costs.Can work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong accountability.Is adaptable and comfortable working within different estimating systems and client workflows.Work EnvironmentSmall, collaborative team with hands-on leadership.Direct communication and quick decision-making.Strong emphasis on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Opportunity to play a key role in supporting the company's long-term growth.
