Requirements and responsibilities

About Irth SolutionsIrth Solutions is a market-leading SaaS company delivering cloud-based critical infrastructure management to energy, utility, and telecom operators across North America. Our Asset Integrity for Pipelines (AIP) platform transforms how pipeline operators manage integrity data — combining machine learning, GIS integration, and enterprise analytics to drive safer, smarter decision-making across the full pipeline lifecycle. The RoleThe Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is the technical bridge between the AIP platform and the pipeline operators who depend on it. You will operate at the intersection of deep oil & gas pipeline domain expertise, enterprise software implementation, and hands-on customer engagement. This is a domain-first role — pipeline knowledge is the primary differentiator, not software engineering background. You will work on-site and remotely with operators, integrity engineers, GIS specialists, and data teams to onboard them onto the AIP/CIM platform — mapping data, configuring modules, validating integrity datasets, and ensuring the platform delivers real operational value from day one. Frequent travel to customer sites (30–50%) is required.Key Responsibilities Customer Engagement & ImplementationLead discovery sessions to understand customer integrity programs, data systems, and workflows — translating requirements into implementation plansGuide customers through migration and mapping of ILI datasets, PODS/APDM/UPDM GIS models, corrosion & CP databases, and field NDE records into AIP/CIMValidate and QA customer data loads: unit conversions, stationing alignment, anomaly classification mapping, and data integrity checksConfigure AIP platform modules to reflect customer integrity management processes, regulatory requirements, and data governance standardsDeliver on-site and remote training tailored to integrity engineers, GIS analysts, and operations teamsTechnical ImplementationWrite and validate SQL scripts, data transformation queries, and ETL routines to load and reconcile pipeline integrity datasetsSupport API and GIS integrations between AIP and customer systems — Esri ArcGIS, PODS databases, SCADA feeds, ILI vendor platformsBuild reusable implementation playbooks, data mapping templates, and configuration guidesTroubleshoot data quality and integration issues; escalate product gaps to the AIP engineering team as the voice of the operatorRequirementsPipeline Domain Knowledge (Primary Requirement)ILI Data: Hands-on experience with ILI data from vendors such as ROSEN, Baker Hughes, Applus+, or NDT Global; working knowledge of MFL, UT, EMAT, and IMU technologies; familiarity with anomaly classification, B31G/RSTRENG fitness-for-service methods, and corrosion growth modelingPipeline GIS & Data: Proficiency with PODS data models (5.x/6.x/7.x); experience with Esri ArcGIS, APDM, and UPDM; ability to map customer GIS schemas and work with linear referencing and stationing frameworksCorrosion & CP: Working knowledge of cathodic protection data (CIS, DCVG/ACVG surveys, test points); familiarity with ECDA/ICDA processes and field NDE data typesRegulatory: Solid understanding of 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195, ASME B31.8S, API 1160, and the PHMSA Mega Rule; ability to map compliance requirements to platform configurationTechnical & Professional Skills5+ years in a technical pipeline role — integrity engineer, pipeline data analyst, GIS specialist, or integrity management consultantSQL proficiency: able to write, read, and debug queries against pipeline integrity databases (SQL Server / Azure SQL preferred)Experience with data migration or ETL projects involving ILI, GIS, or PODS datasetsStrong communication skills — able to present to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders; self-directed in a remote-first environmentNice-to-HaveDirect operator or midstream experience as a pipeline integrity or corrosion engineerPython scripting for data processing or ETL; Databricks or Azure Data Factory exposureFamiliarity with Irth AIP/CIM, or AI/ML applications in pipeline integrity (anomaly prediction, risk scoring)
