You will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for mortgage loans, securitization transactions, warehouse financing, and corporate activities while supporting the monthly close and GAAP financial reporting. Working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners, you will drive process improvements, maintain strong internal controls, and help support the company's continued growth.What You'll DoPrepare monthly accounting for mortgage loans, securitization trusts, warehouse facilities, and related financing transactionsReview and reconcile monthly servicing reports from third-party servicers and external calculation agentsPrepare complex journal entries and supporting documentation for mortgage loans, interest income, servicing activity, securitizations, and corporate accountingPerform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items to ensure timely resolutionAnalyze principal, interest, escrow, advances, servicing fees, and other loan activity for accuracy and completenessReconcile loans sold to investors and capital partners and resolve reporting discrepanciesPrepare accounting for expenses, accruals, and other accounting activitiesAssist in the accounting and reporting of mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed notes, warehouse facilities, and other financing arrangementsSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAPPrepare audit schedules and workpapers and respond to requests from external auditorsAssist with compliance reporting required by warehouse lenders, capital partners, investors, and other external stakeholdersIdentify opportunities to automate accounting processes, improve reporting, and strengthen internal controlsPerform analytical reviews of financial results and investigate unusual fluctuations or trendsCollaborate with Servicing, Capital Markets, Operations, FP&A, and Information Technology to improve accounting processes and reportingAssist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems, including NetSuite, SBO, and other financial applicationsIdentify accounting issues requiring technical evaluation and support the Controller and Chief Accountant in researching and implementing accounting guidanceSupport special projects, acquisitions, new financing transactions, and other strategic initiatives.Managing other responsibilities and duties as assigned based on business needsWhat we are looking forBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance5+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP accountingAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, and complex formulasExperience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracyAbility to work independently and collaborativelyWhat we prefer to findExperience in mortgage banking, mortgage servicing, mortgage REITs, or financial servicesExperience with mortgage loan accounting, warehouse lending, securitizations, or capital markets transactionsExperience with NetSuiteExperience with financial reporting and external auditsExperience using SQL, Power Query, Power BI, or other reporting and analytics toolsUnderstanding of mortgage servicing, loan remittances, investor reporting, and interest calculations
