Our unique work environment offers an opportunity for the "self-starter" with unlimited growth potential. The Software Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining internal systems and integrations that support Opal Group’s operations and long-term automation initiatives. The primary objective of this role is to develop scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions that streamline business processes, reduce manual work, and improve system reliability across departments.This role operates independently and owns the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and ongoing support. Solutions may include Salesforce development, system integrations, internal automation tools, and business-critical workflows used across the organization.Job Type: FT International ConsultantCompensation: $1,500 USD per monthLocation: RemoteImportant: Only ENGLISH resumes and cover letters will be considered.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Translate business requirements into technical specifications, development plans, and delivered solutionsDesign and implement scalable system architectures that minimize operational risk and long-term maintenanceDevelop and maintain Salesforce customizations, automation, and integrationsBuild and maintain API-based integrations across platforms including Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Zoom, WordPress, and other business systemsDesign and deploy automation tools that reduce manual processes while maintaining data integrity and access controlsDevelop secure front-end and server-side functionality where requiredManage system enhancements, updates, and regression prevention to ensure ongoing stabilityEstablish and maintain version control, documentation standards, and structured deployment processesCreate and maintain clear technical documentation to ensure systems are sustainable and not dependent on tribal knowledgeImplement logging, monitoring, and basic alerting for critical workflows and integrationsSupport system stability and internal technical initiatives as neededTroubleshoot production issues and implement durable, long-term solutionsRequirements:5+ years of professional software development experience working with production systemsDemonstrated ability to independently own projects across the full development lifecycleStrong experience with Salesforce custom development and integrationExperience building and maintaining API-based integrations (REST, OAuth2, webhooks, automation workflows)Experience developing custom WordPress functionality and working with modern web technologiesFamiliarity with Microsoft 365 and Zoom integrations is preferredStrong understanding of system architecture, data modeling, debugging, and application reliabilityExperience working with version control and structured deployment practicesAbility to translate non-technical business needs into effective technical solutionsStrong written and verbal English communication skillsSelf-motivated and comfortable operating independently in a remote environmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience serving as the primary or sole developer within a small or mid-sized organizationExperience building internal portals or client-facing dashboardsFamiliarity with CI/CD practices and production monitoringSalesforce certifications are a plusBenefits & Work Environment:At Opal Group, we value our team members and offer a comprehensive and supportive work culture.
