You will design, build, and operate backend services and platforms using Go, GraphQL, Kubernetes, and AWS. You will own major components end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to observability, reliability, and production performance.
Core responsibilities:
System and API design:
* Design and evolve scalable, robust backend services in Go.
* Own the design and implementation of GraphQL schemas, resolvers, and federation strategies.
* Define and maintain clear contracts between services and clients (mobile, web, third-party).
Implementation and delivery:
* Write clean, idiomatic Go code with strong test coverage.
* Build and maintain GraphQL gateways and services, including schema stitching and federation when needed.
* Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines for services running on Kubernetes and AWS.
Architecture and reliability:
* Lead design discussions and drive technical decisions for key systems and features.
* Design for high availability, scalability, and resilience in a cloud-native environment using AWS and Kubernetes.
* Define and implement observability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and SLOs/SLAs.
DevOps and cloud infrastructure:
* Contribute to Kubernetes deployments (Helm, Kustomize) and AWS infrastructure such as EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, and API Gateway.
* Partner with DevOps and platform teams on infrastructure-as-code, cost optimization, and security best practices.
* Champion automation across development workflows and production operations.
Technical leadership and collaboration:
* Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews and architectural guidance.
* Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to shape solutions from ideation through delivery.
* Help define and evolve engineering standards, best practices, and documentation.
Day-to-day tasks:
* Design and implement new backend features and microservices in Go.
* Develop and maintain GraphQL APIs, including schema design, resolver logic, and performance optimization.
* Create and maintain Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts for deploying services.
* Work with AWS services to integrate storage, messaging, networking, and security components.
* Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and participate in test strategy discussions.
* Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
* Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and estimation.
* Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality, security, and maintainability.
* Contribute to and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
* Drive technical improvements such as refactors, migrations, performance tuning, and tooling.
Requirements and qualifications:
Must-have technical skills:
* 5–8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
* 3+ years building backend services in Go.
* Experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs in production.
* Strong experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes.
* Solid understanding of AWS services such as EC2/EKS, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, IAM, networking basics, and CloudWatch.
* Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL API design principles and best practices.
* Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
* Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
* Strong understanding of testing strategies and experience writing maintainable test suites.
* Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog.
